Corbin has a seat for the 899 that will fit the 1199, does anyone have one? I had a DP comfort seat and I didn't really care for it, just looking for opinions/reviews on alternative seats...Thanks in advance

I would get the luimoto seat gel and cover before I ever got that. The passenger seat looks like a rear bag stuff with seat material it is hideous.
 
I would have to agree the passenger seat looks terrible. I never ride two up, so that really wasn't a concern. I wonder if the seat changes the riding position--The DP seat and the stock seat pitches my upper body forward and smashed my seeds on the tank. I will have to look into the Luimoto gel seat
 
Corbin seats are really hard..Had one on my ZX10 and I hated it... There has to be a better option...I have the DP race seat and to me I think its perfect..... Interested to know with you don't like the comfort seat??
 
Really hard? Is there a "break in" period for the seat? Does it eventually mold to the shape of your rear? The DP comfort seat wasn't terrible by any means, not knocking the seat at all...I switched out the stock seat for the comfort seat after the first service and I feel like it relieved a bit of pressure off of my old beat up knees but put more pressure on my wrists...have you experienced that at all?

It does raise you and therefore tip you forward..but I do find the 1199 very comfortable and no wrist pain... My Corbin didn't break in at all..... Its reminds me very much of the 1199 stock seat... just thicker..
 
I guess to add, I am tall with a short inseam. 6'2" with a 31" inseam. All of my height is in my torso...I dont have any wrist fatigue with the stock seat--I almost wish it were lower. I think I am going to look into the Luimoto seat and also see if I can snag a stock seat off of ebay for cheap and try my hand at altering it.
 
I switched to the DP comfort seat in the first 50 miles. And used it for about 1k miles. Never liked the higher riding position. So switched back to the stock seat and found (after having gotten used to the Pani) that my butt didn't object nearly as much to it as initially. It's what I've been using now for 15k miles. The DP Comfort seat sits in a box...
 
I ordered the driver and passenger seat for my 1199. Still being made and shipped though, will report back once iv'e gotten hold of it.
 
For 1199 owners the best aftermarket seat you can get is the 899 OEM seat. Its the correct hight but has a grippier material than the 1199.

My mind is still baffled whenever I try to understand how Ducati's engineers and testers all agreed to ship the 1199 with slippery pegs and a teflon seat.
 
I never thought about the stock 899 seat, I'll have to check in to that. The Luimoto option seems to be pretty popular too. I wish Sargent would make a seat for the 1199--I had one on an old Speed Triple that I loved. Thanks for the heads up on the 899 seat

They obviously made it so a passenger actually appreciates it. If you don't have a passenger on back why the hell would anyone have any back seat on the bike at all? Mine always has the cowl on it.
 
2015 Panigale R only has a single seat option........ that could save the hassle and cost of a new comfort rear seat at least?!?! :D
 
Saddleman's out of SoCal will do a custom gel saddle using you base. I had them make one up for me and it's very comfortable, and there is absolutely no sliding around.

If it makes you feel better, just call it the 1299 seat, since they're putting the 899 seat on the 1299 now too... :cool: Have one on mine; I posted these comparison pics somewhere before, but rather than search I'll just reattach 'em here.

Interesting. The seat on my '14 1199 looks closer in texture to the 899 seat, but of course the height of the standard 1199. I never had the sensation of the 1199 seat being slippery. I wonder if there was a change somewhere along production.

I might have to get a 899/1299 seat...
