After considering all of my options, I ended up buying a used seat on eBay for $55 and started trying to figure out the process of shaping a seat...needless to say, I wont quit my day job. I started my search for marine grade fabrics at the local fabric store per advice from my girlfriend--there wasn't a whole lot to choose from, but I picked up a couple different ruminants and she decided I could probably use some foam for the seat(sometimes you have to pick your battles and I'm glad she tries to help). After looking through everything and starting to shape the existing seat and building up the front while dishing out the rear of the seat pan I decided it would probably be beneficial to take a trip to an upholstery shop. I went the J&J upholstery here in Columbus, Ohio and they provided me with a wealth of information from shaping techniques to different grippy fabric they had in stock and also stuff that they could order. I picked up some fabric from them called grippz and a block of high density foam and headed back to the garage. I finished the seat yesterday and installed it last night as we were putting the bike back together after the cartridge install. I used an angle grinder with a flap disc for the majority of the shaping--if you plan on going this route, watch your fingers! I also used an abrasive disc on a Drexel tool for the fine tuning. I wouldn't say that I am 100% happy with the end result, I can still feel some minor imperfections when I run my hand across the seat from the abrasive discs, but I think it'll be a night and day difference from the stock seat. It's supposed to rain for the next two days here in Columbus and then be in the 60's on Sunday and Monday...the forks were finished last night, now to swap out the rear shock, flush and fill the cooling system, and an oil change and we'll be ready to ride! Thanks to everyone for their input and opinions, I appreciate all of them very much.
