Yep exactly go back to 2012 that was the start of the downhill spiral so the factory has one goal make the bikes cheap and unreliable. Its the only way the brand name survives so wait till the next gen comes out it will be far worse. The "do it yourself" service, repair and custom build options are gonna be going away.

harsh comments, i see zero difference between Pete's bike and the latest bayliss, the foggy or the sp. They are all just paint n' stickers.

No it isn’t. It’s heat resistant/reflective tape specifically designed for this type of application. Under it the pipe is first wrapped in heat insulating open weave exhaust cloth.

The reflective tape is meant for shielding components from the heat source like fuel cells, firewalls, air intake pipes, under seats, etc. That probably will become a mess on top of the exhaust wrap.

My observations were not negative but more from a general observation perspective. It looks like the platform (basic bike) didnt receive any attention before someone started decorating. I see corrosion on fasteners. corrosion on aluminum parts, I see cracked rubber parts, I see wiring harness and plumbing components that look like they have been sitting outside for a year. I'm suspecting that in general, the bike is in a bit of dissaray mechanically which is a bit unusual. You have paid attention to decorative detail in the specific areas that are initially, viewer impactful but the lack of attention to even basic areas that needed it becomes evident once you look under the sheets. Anyhow again not at all critiquing the bike. Its what you wanted and that's all that matters. I just think you could have done a bit more in terms of prepping and cleaning up the platform before you started in with the visuals.

Bikes are far more reliable than they ever were. I dont see this as being valid.
As far as being able to work on them ourselves, IDK my bike is not that hard once you spend some time with it.

LOL you used “reliable” on Ducati chat board. Good one.

three ducs in only issue I've had was the famous multistrada tank sensor going on the fritz... which was an annoyance more than an issue

Wow! I thought I spend a lot of time on my bikes: not anymore, after seeing this :)
My compliments for your bike and your determination.

Congrats Pete. Your bike is a work of art!

its a no from me, it looks like 2 bikes made into one, as mentioned earlier in this thread, why have top range forks and budget rear shock, and then spend loads of time painting things different colours..

my instant reaction is that its the rest of a Panigale R fitted to a basic 1199, what the story is behind either bikes I can only imagine...

I would have gone in a different direction and retro fitted a good rear shock and some fancy wheels, and the result would have been a clean, nicely spec'd bike.

It looks like you spent a great deal of time and effort on making this bike an expression for you - congrats!
