Cruising RPM

The question was about cruising RPM.

Ah, yes of course.

My previous response was to help define the term "cruise" or "cruising".
The OP's question is wide open to interpretation, as we have seen with the wide variation of responses.

Perhaps my response should have been.
I range anywhere between 3300 rpm and 4500 rpm, depending upon vehicle speed, gear selection and engine load.

I think technically speaking, that DUCATI and other manufacturers would deem cruising to be pretty much anytime the engine is operating in a closed loop condition. With the exception of the warm up phase, when they're open loop anyway.

To cruise at somewhat legal highway speed she likes it in 5th gear around 5,500 rpm. In town I can go as low as 3,000 without any lugging or hesitation.

Never above 3rd - even on fast LA freeways and always is 2nd in the canyons (45-100). Cheers!

I do the same and so last night I thought I would pop it into 4th and see how it feels. To me it feels like I need to downshift back to 3rd to feel that pull of speed, but that would mean I would be at around 100 to shift to 4th. I think I will try to see how 5th and 6th feel.
