Sorry, but I cant see him bettering his ranking and results with Ducati.

*facepalm*.. it's been fun watching you Cal, you are a good dude. Enjoy fighting for 9th position.

Just when we got a slightly deeper competitive field at the front....looks like we'll end up with a bit less depth next year.

Perhaps our only hope is Pol can be as astonishing on the Tech 3 as Marc has been on the Honda, and give us some more entertainment up front.

With Audi and therefore VW money backing... They'll make Ducati competitive again, may take a year or two... but they'll get there again.

How much longer before Ducati pulls out?

I agree with Capt CF. Good luck fighting for 9th. When a CRT is beating a factory bike week after week it has to be embarrassing.

+1 - how many more careers does that piece of .... Desmo have to ruin before they do something about it? :(

bad choice by cal! at this point in his career, this is the wrong move.

I'll pray that he's aggressive and loose enough to extract something out of the bike a la Casey, but I was really looking forward to seeing him battle for podiums on a Honda or Yamaha next season.

taps playing in the backgroud

sorry to see you go cal. i really liked you as a rider and was hoping you could go to factory yamaha but they have a guy on the second bike that they wont get rid of. A guy that has one race win in 2 plus years. a guy that wont challenge for more than 4th if everyone is healthy. i will be rooting for you on the ducati but doubt i will see you better than 7th.

Lorenzo?

the only plus is that Cal gets a payday. and he's certainly overdue and deserving....

next to Dovi .... a wild man on a wild bike... it either works or it doesn't... :)

Doesn't. Dovi was slightly better than Cal on identical Yamahas; it stands to reason that Cal will be slightly worse than Dovi on identical Ducatis. I love how Ducati keeps throwing new riders at the bike, because obviously THATS the problem.

I thought there was a rumor that Marlboro had hinted at withdrawing their support if results don't improve. Is Audi gonna spring for the whole GP budget then?

I keep thinking that the Ducs using the spec ECU and software might make things interesting as along with that comes more fuel, more engines, and a softer tire. Add to that the engine homologation rules that go into effect next season, essentially freezing engine development. The last thing Ducati needs is an avenue of development taken away.

I hope that's a nice signing check cal is cashing in on because after he signes on that dotted line his career is in serious jeopardy. We all have watched the 2 ducs fight it out race after race almost side by side with very little if any forward movement. We are a super competitive race team that only races with outselves.

I do agree that ducati has tighten up and develop a new bike if they want to survive... Will cal be the guy the ride it??? Who knows ? Stay tuned........

I was at the Laguna Seca MotoGP this year, and at a Ducati function off site on Friday evening, the Ducati personel, including the head of the racing team for MotoGP came and spoke to us. He was adamant in telling the gathered Ducati fans that they would figure this out, and return to their once-winning ways again. He seemed to be a very sincere man, and if gut feelings are anything (I have a Psych degree from Univ of Calif - does that count? - haha), he was believable and serious about what he was saying. Lets give them a bit more time before we become Honda/Yamaha fans can we? At Laguna the Desmos were only between 1 to 2 mph down consistently on the speed trap readout before turn 5, and usually only 1 mph. We are close on top speed, it appears that entry speeds into the corner, and mid corner may be where we are losing time - the Hondas do literally sound like they scream out of the corners compared to the Ducatis and Yamahas, but like I stated, the speeds are very similar by the time they get to the bridge before turn 5. Cal looked amazing - I am hopeful he will be the ticket to more winning days ahead. Hang in there race fans.

As much as I hope you're right, the last 2.5 years hasn't left much hope in me...
