Crutchlow to sign Ducati deal 2014-2015

As much as I hope you're right, the last 2.5 years hasn't left much hope in me...

It's been more than 2.5 years that Ducati's been in the ........ Actually I'd say they've been going backwards since 2008. Stoner's been the only one who could make the bike win, and he won less and less as time went on. Crutchlow's good, but he's no Stoner. They've spent all this year working with the "lab bike" on chassis stiffness, to find that once they arrived where they wanted there was nothing in the lap times. Everyone was thinking engine configuration, the 90 degree V4, then Honda up and says "hey, that's what we use" - theory busted. Nothing less than a ground-up redesign is needed; is Audi going to fund that?

Remember when they put the little wings on the fairing? We should have known then that they were out of ideas.

Ducati s up .... creek , they lost 2 years and have no knowledge when it comes to alubeam frames .. Whereas H and Y have tilted their design to whichcraft level .. Even though only 1sec it might as well be half a minute. And as they din t have the bike, they don t have the riders ... I wouldn t count on audi to keep bankrolling being unsuccesfull either.. Bmw pulls out of wsbk just like that even though they ve never been closer to winning..

When audi realises that the motogp effort is draining the scarse human racing resources from developping the WSBK effort do causing them to loose 2 times over, it wont take them long to start getting out the axes..

I imagine the axes will start to fall once Marlboro decides they no longer want to bankroll a hopelessly mediocre enterprise.

Is GP even worth the effort? It's so far removed from normal bikes I doubt it translates to much sales or improvement. If it did why are all of Hondas products middle of the road, jack of all trade types of rides?

Get out and focus on wsbk until you have something worth showing.

It's a Brit !! Close enough to the Aussie who brought us a championship ;-)

Remember the Panigale concept came from the MotoGP effort.:)

True but minus the CF airbox and other trick stuff that makes the GP bike so twitchy. Not that I could tell the difference myself though.

It will be great to compare Checa's WSBK-spec Panigale laptimes with Dovi & Nicky's GP laptimes at Ricardo Tormo this year. I bet the Pani is on par or even faster around that circuit than the GP bike.

Ducati will not be pulling out of anything any time soon. Audi is investing heavily and is committed for the long haul.

It took my Sailing Club (GGYC), 10 years and hundreds of millions of dollars to bring the America's Cup back to the USA. It is also costs hundreds of millions to defend it this September, you either in it to win it or not. Ducati are in it to win it, Audi are in it to win it.

The other teams have earned their success, Ducati has to earn their future success and they will - eventually.

I don't think Crutchslow cares too much, he's getting a massive pay bump, one he deserves and has struggled with from he satellite teams. And the lack of sponsorship support. MotoGP careers aren't that long, might as well milk it while you can. At least this means he can retire for good after he's done and doesn't need a desk job to pay the mortgage.

Sometimes .... happens even for star riders on the perfect bike. Look at Ben Spies. He should have done and won a lot of things, but instead his MotoGP career is in the toilet.

I think i read that hes going to 7x his pay from the Yammy team... he would be a fool to turn that down...
