LP Bracket

Clearance shot (not quite 5.12 inches, however I just need to decrease the angle of the LP bracket a few degrees and there will be plenty of clearance):

How is your plate mounted ? Daytona would probably ticket the .... outta me ! But , it'd be worth the risk for that clean of a look ! Very sharp !

I got pulled over by a state trooper yesterday and he looked directly at my plate, didn't mention a thing. However he wated to know why I didn't have mirrors :D

A change in angle or moving the plate back a bit would help prevent contact, though. (This isn't my bike, btw)

Yeah all I need to do is decrease the angle of the bracket, it's at around 90 degrees currently so I might just decrease it to around 75 which will give plenty of room for full travel.

What did you say? Did he like your logic? ;)

Hey Bucci, did you take a little inspiration from my bike? ;^)
I've been rolling around with the same style setup for almost a month in the Seattle area. No mirrors as well (aside from a blindspot on the left)

I do like what you did with the cover underneath the tail

I rode for 15 years with my tags like that without ever having a problem. But , starting a couple of years ago , Daytona cops were told to look for ways to give minor tickets during Bike Week , to raise money. Any kind of altered plate got you a fat ticket. Sucks because it's cool everywhere else around here. Just effing Daytona ! Is that undertail vaccume formed ? Came out awesome !

Haven't seen your bike but I wouldn't mind seeing it. I ordered the Corse Dynamics mirror block off plates the week I got my bike and was rolling around with this LP setup for 3 or 4 weeks, just finally got the body piece looking right.

All it would take is bending the plate holder either way to give more clearance. I've even seen ones with rollers on them so it rolls along the rear hugger. I think this piece he has made is especially suitable for guys tracking their bikes for that clean undertail look. I personally love it. Maybe you could offer to ship the FE and plate holder separate for those who want to use it for track use or mount the plate elsewhere.

Hey Bucci,
One of these days I'll get around to making some block-off plates. But funny that I haven't seen your bike. Everyone I know says that think they see my bike, but they know it isn't since mine never had mirrors on it. Now there are two! :^)

We should probably meet up though, I have some things in the works and looks like you have something good going with that tail tidy plastic piece. I'll be at the dyno tomorrow at Kawasaki if you're around. Assuming .... weather, I'll be trailering the bike over.

Any ideas about the mounting of turn signals? I have thought from day one that the holes next to the tail light would be prime realestate.

It looks great and yep i'd be in for one as well.
Just a question on the above is there no requirement for plate light and indicators in Washington?
What do the San Fran clan think of this (I'm moving up there in a couple of weeks) and having lived in Ca twice before think you'd be busted out of the state for this. It does look so clean though - love it. That's the best thing about track bikes how clean their lines are without all the clutter on them. :D

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but why bother with carbon over plastic or glass? Seems like you'd save only a couple ounces and triple or quadruple the expense.

I had a FE with rollers on it on my cbr, but the plate bracket was on a spring loaded hinge to keep it at the proper angle. I like the idea of selling the bracket and rear cover separately. I will keep that in mind.

Which Kawasaki? I live in Bellevue BTW not quite Seattle. I am down to meet up though and check out what you got in the works. I still wanna make a few more items as well.

I have a good idea of where to mount them, just need to order a few different sets of signals to see which look/work the best.

Where did you put the light or the plate? And where's the turn signals?!

I will not be putting signals on my bike for they are not a necessity, however I will be designing some to fit this kit. As far as LP lighting goes, I am just going to mount a small light on the rear cover that faces back at the LP.

It looks great and yep i'd be in for one as well.

Plate light is required however turn signals are not. I can also make a LP bracket that hangs further off the bike for those concerned about the fuzz haha.

It would be more about cosmetics over function, however the weight savings of this piece in carbon compared to the original rear cover with full fender is substantial for such a small part. Maybe I will make both glass and carbon for those not concerned about BLING

Start cranking those puppies out! And I agree, there is no real need for CF or FGlass. Stick to the plastic look you already have. Maybe CF in the future, but not immediately. I bet just about every swinging .... on this forum will want one, also granted they are at a reasonable price. Post this up on 1199forums and you will get even more interested peeps.
