The resonance box on the intake? It does not exist on race intakes so I imagine it's not necessary. The hose at the bottom of the airbox is just a drain so water doesn't build up in wet conditions.

The hose at the bottom of the airbox isn't the same thing as RacerDan is talking about. The seperator is plumbed into the crankcase.

Ohhhh, I was thinking of the helmholtz resonance box on top of the intake behind the dash. Didn't realize what you're talking about is called a cyclone separator.

Its number 25 here.
I didn’t realize it was called a cyclone separator either, but 25 in the above picture is what I’m looking at getting rid of.
I saw a picture of Kyle Wymans engine and it looks like the lower hose is plugged off. Not to sure what they did with the large hose, I imagine a breather or catch can.

I believe the cyclone separator was added to prevent oil vapors entering the airbox from the crankcase breather. This was the part that was added as part of the
2 ring twin issue recall bulletin. On race bikes it isn't necessary and the crankcase breather can be routed to a catch can or breather with venting as you mentioned.

the V2 Part has a check valve, so i believe the cone (come on, its not really a cyclone) is for bringing back the main crankcase oil dust from the head back to the crankcase.
or was the original film can part with checkvalve and it was useless? don't remember.
I'm, and they i think, have not fully understood what they are doing here.
