I have a set of Termi slip ons that need to be installed.... Called my dealer... sure we can fit them $400!!!!.... I have reviewed the instructions and it basically seems to involve 3 bolts being removed and some adding of brackets (supplied) to the Termis themselves... To say I feel like they are trying to rip me off is putting it mildly!!!!!
 
Yeah, I didn't even bother asking. You should know by now you stand to save a lot of money if you have the tools and ability to do it yourself.

More people should learn the skills to maintain what they ride. I understand there are some things like electronics etc, but wouldn't it be nice if the updates were released via the internet direct to consumers?
 
Of course... but there's a difference between paying a premium and getting gouged... Sick of it actually... They also want $150 labour to fit a 14t front sprocket.... Arggghhh!!!!

I plan on doing Termis myself but I am still pissed... I have spent $45000+ with this dealer and they treat me like this!!!
 
$150 for sprocket? lol... Find a 3rd party shop. Like in Denver there was Boulder Motorsports for example. They actually maintained bikes for the Ducati racers in the MRA. Also, you can remove the sprocket yourself too. Have an impact gun?

I hate dealerships, I've done back twice for recalls. That's it...

I understand your pain! I have the tri and when I went in for my break in service, I told them to install my Termi's and they told me $350 :eek: I thought it was going to be free and that'w what i paid for set-up when I purchased the bike...I was wrong.

Something needs to done about these dealers!!!!!!

I am soooooo frustrated... Does it say "shaft me" on my forehead ??? Just cos I bought a Duc does not mean I have lotsa money or even that I am stupid/Dumb.... or then again.. does it?? lol
 
Hey STW,

I believe I was at the dealership when you called... If it was yesterday about 3 ish or so then indeed I was there and overheard the conversation. I understand your frustration but also understand AMS's position.

Let me know if that was indeed you that called and I can share what I know for whatever it's worth...

Lol..I think I could handle that but thanks for the offer.... I have slated next saturday to do it...looking at the instructions it appears to be basically 3 bolts...
 
Well I can tell you it's as follows:

4 Hanger Bolts
3 Bolts for the Manifold (These are a .....!)
4 Screws for the EXUP valve.

And body work :D.
 
I've never understood why people always feel like they are being "ripped off" when dealers quote a price. If you don't like it - move on and do it yourself or some other dealer to do it. I mean - think about it - most of these motorcycle dealerships barely survive. They get along by doing service on the bikes - which pays the bills. Ducati's sales margins are razor thin (like 7 percent or something). Service is what has to pay the bills for rent/mortgage, staff, etc. They have to pay the mechanics whether there is a bike back there or not. They have to pay to send them for training to Ducati to get certified. So yeah, I kind of feel for the dealers (I am not one) as they are business owners and entitled to set the prices they want just like you can determine whether you want to pay it or not.

Why??? Well I think its simple... I understand paying a premium to have someone else do the job... But if I know that A. I can do the job and B. it takes a complete amateur around 3 hrs then should I not feel shafted that a fully equipped and experienced dealer wants to charge me 4hrs labour??? Especially one at which I have spent so much money previously??? Of course I have the option to say no and walk away.. I am... but if you think I dont feel embittered then you are much thicker skinned than me... I am pissed off at this and WILL not ever spend any money at this Stealership again...

take 20 minutes to take the fairings off and 20 minutes to put it back on. at $120/hr labor charge, that's $80 just taking fairing off and on. Aside from the services mandated by the warranty to be done at an authorized service center, i plan to do everything else myself.
