Hi,
I have recently bought a 1199 trackbike. I am replacing the engine oil and found 6-7 pieces of hard plastic in the old oil. They are all similar in shape with cca 1 mm thickness. See the photo.
Any ideas where these might have broken off? How worried should I get...?

Do you have a borescope or access to one? You might want to take a peak inside and make sure there isn't something left in the bottom of the oil pan.

Thanks guys!
I found the previous thread on this topic in mechanical & technical. I can't get over this just like that. Would need to know wtf these pieces of plastic are doing in my oil.
Sorry for having opened a redundant thread.
@Admin: close or move if possible.

they are plastic spacers that are used when the alternator is built when the resin is applied the manufacturer left some of them in place on some bikes
it hasn't been any issue on uk bikes that they were found in

That's a relief! You sound like this information is coming from some official source. Are you working for Ducati? Just being curious...

Hi . i found 6 of this plastic pieces last oil change 15k km . after 200 km i drain the oil and found 1 piece the same . w. t. f is this plastic ? i have written ducati three times and they ignore me no answer from them .the same with the dealer no answer . i ride panigale 1299 base 2015

This has been discussed exhaustively. Nobody cares to officially state what these bits are. Most probably some distance keepers when they assemble the engine or some part of it. Very frustrating that Ducati ignores this for the 6th year ongoing, but for users the most important thing is that these have never been a cause of any failure. Can be ignored.

Thanks snk1199. How many are there ? How many mill you did on your bike after you faind the plastic bits?

I bought the 1199S with 5400 kms and I found I think 8 pieces as I did the oil change right after purchase. I did another oil change 1000 kms later (it is a track bike) and still found I think 3-4.
