Short story is my Duc will only start if the wheel is in a specific position. Once I find the spot, it starts right up and purrs fine - but as soon as I turn the wheel, the engine cuts off. I'm sure there's a short somewhere, but I can't find it, and don't have a good method for finding it.

A lot of details follow - some may be relevant, some not.

First problem I had was that my turn signals weren't working. I discovered that the fuse was blown, so I replaced it. At this. time, I also inspectected my turn signal wiring (I replaced the stock brake and signals with LEDs about 10 years ago). I did a .... job originally - I wired in resistors to the signals wouldn't blink at hyperspeed, and I think either they shorted or wore out. End result was that I removed them, threw them away, and replaced the flasher with one able to handle LEDs. (Turn signals work perfectly now). I also re-checked all. of the fuses.

Then, I noticed that the bike would shut off if I turned the wheel to the left. I triple checked the signal wiring looking for kinks or bare wire, but found nothing. As a precaution, I removed the kickstand bypass wiring I. installed 15 or so years ago, but that made no difference.

In the process of repeatedly starting the bike, and then turning the wheel until it shut off and looking for wires that may be causing the problem, I now have the bike in a state where it will only. start if the wheel is all the way to the right.

I'll keep poking around - but if anyone has any ideas - or wants to point out something obvious I'm missing, it'd be much appreciated.

With the bars to the right and it running did you to try wiggle different wires and see if it shuts off?

I would try that and start with the wires that go to the run/stop switch

Might somehow be the switch itself as well
