Well, I'm bored of my plain panigale base look and I wanna spice it up with some stickers. I absolutely love the tri color look and would love to go that route (not being a poser). I also have other designs that I love and am willing to experiment.

What options would you guys recommend ? I love these designs. If you have something else that you like - please do post.

1. Tri Color

2. GP-13

3. SBK 2013

Which ones do you guys think looks the best ?

I have a TRI and it really is a good looking paint scheme..
The second choice is to much of a "poser" way to busy on the decals (unless they are sponsoring you)..
I like the 3rd choice the best ...

I love the 3rd option as well - but instead of the "ENERGY T.I" decals I might get one which simply says "DUCATI"

I am in the same boat. I have a new set of track fairings that are painted just red and looking to do a decal kit (I don't want a decal on the tank however)

The aluminium brushed decals on the tank as in the R model are pretty good looking !!

Hmm, so does anyone have good Photoshop skills ?

I am currently in the middle of painting the 2013 wsbk. Got the decals off eBay from dude in Italy. Looks like actual nice vinyl. I'll let you know how it turns out.

This.

Personally, I cant stand to see all kinds of product/company logos on the bike unless someone is actually sponsored by them. Not only is it poserish, but it devalues the whole sponsorship thing.

The ONLY reason companies put decals in the boxes with products is because they are hoping for free advertisement.

And as racers, advertising via decals is one of the bargaining chips we have when it comes to sponsorship. Everybody and their brother running product decals all over their bikes for no reason devalues our bargaining chips.

Imagine how much more sponsorship would be available (or worth) if NOBODY ran decals unless there was a reason for it ("reason" meaning sponsorship or support). But yet you pull in any coffee house and you see dudes with Akra, Dynojet, Yoshimura, etc decals all over their damn bikes for no reason. They paid FULL price for the parts, but yet they are advertising for those companies anyway.

As far as customizing the bike, there are many ways to do it without running company decals/logos. You can do custom stripes, paint jobs, change the wheels, add some carbon fiber, etc. There are a million ways for somebody to make their bike different without putting a bunch of damn stickers all over it.

I agree... No names unless they are sponsoring you. With the standard red that my race fairings are, I do want some decals that will make white space (decals are cheaper for race fairings than paint, and you can just take off and redo for issues)

But you also want to be visual from a distance and see it being unique and you.

Sticker it up, the whole sponsorship thing is ridiculous. put what ever you want on your bike that makes you happy.

I personally wouldn't put logos all over my bike. However I have bought limited replica bikes before. Ducati has been known to produce them from the Bostrom to Bayless and even then the Hayden so to each their own.

It's easy to think just because someone's making/selling parts, they're pulling in hundreds of thousands of profit, but most are just making enough to survive, so I'm all for supporting a vendor/manufacturer I believe in (unless they have a really ugly logo, of course) ;).

And sometimes you can get sponsorship from a company through inadvertently adversing for that company. Kriega sponsored me because so many pictures of my bike kept popping up with their gear attached to my bike. No easier way to get sponsorship than to demonstrate how much exposure you've secured for 'em in the past.

Obviously stated by somebody who isn't relying on sponsorship and who doesn't work daily on a sponsorship program. You might think it is ridiculous, but that is your opinion which is obviously based on the fact that you don't race and aren't worried about sponsorship. As somebody that works my ass off for sponsorship, it really strikes a nerve when I see guys running damn logos all over their bikes for no reason. They are devaluing one of the major bargaining tools we have as racers.

It would be like you telling CitiMortgage (home financing) "I will put one of your billboards in my yard and put your logo on my truck to advertise for you, if in return you will pay 1/2 of my mortgage".

...then you go home and all of your neighbors have CitiMortgage billboards in their yards and logos on their vehicles, for no damn reason whatsoever. You would be like "really guys, WTF?". And CitiMortgage would be like "why should we pay 1/2 of your mortgage for advertising for us...when your whole neighborhood is advertising for us for free?".

It is your bike, obviously you can do what you want. I was simply offering up another perspective that some people have never thought about.

I raced from 98 - 2002 at loudon (96,98 gsxr 750) so I sympathize with the sponsorship topic, but its a streetbike. It would be much different if the racers in the paddock put Dunlop and Michelin on there bikes with no sponsorship, just to make the bike look cool. We all have seen this in the amateur level, and that kills me. Don't mean to take anything away from the hard work racers do, but some ppl who cant afford racing want to be you, and putting stickers on their bikes is the closest they are ever gonna get.

An interesting topic, I'm not sure which way I sit on this one, I don't think I would ever get a race replica unless it was for a display piece, I think they look a bit cheesy on the street but again each to their own, I can certainly sympathize with you Chaotic, you must work very hard to gain sponsors, and it would dilute the value having guys running at track with the bikes all stickered up, maybe OK for the street, not for the track as ed stated previously.

I've had the do you even race bro guys come up to me at the track before. I like to usually do a wsbk theme. No I don't race and no I don't run these fairings on the street not do I even ride on the street anymore. Our local fast guy put it the best. None of the names on his bike would even look in your direction. Start winning races and breaking records and the sponsors come to you.

I'm doing this one with mine.... Except not the swirly stripe on side. So just the top stripe. Leaving the Ducati corse stickers on the sides instead.

That should look great Lee, post up some pics when you're done.

Cheers
