Has anyone had any problems with carbon air duct covers rubbing and wearing away the fairing at the contact points?

I have a line on a nearly new set of DP covers and a few people have said to avoid them as they have been known to wreck fairings through rubbing. Has anyone experienced this?

I have been reading the forum for a while now and never heard that complaint, but that is not to say it has not happened. you could protect the pieces with 3m clear perhaps. I have a lot of it on my bike.

the only air duct covers that are perfect for the 1199 is shift tech. they have a tab that holds them super snug no gap, moving around, or anything. my airduct covers from shift tech are better made than the ones on my friends R. on the r you can see the dont sit flush against the fairing.

never had an issue.. and they fit pretty darn good on my R and has the tabs to slide into the slots and the tab that goes under the ignition cover..

Hopefully no issues.... I am about to buy some from a good friend :)

Actually the MS Production fitment is incredible. I was worried about it because my dealer broke a tab on each side. Fits better than the stock plastic one does. Also $298 for the pair vs $520.

Have shiftech and fit and finish is perfect. Mine are gloss the way they should be!

Shift tech is great. I have order many parts from him and he will reply to your emails literally within mins to hours. He only sells parts of quality. For example. He doesnt sell the carbon exhaust heat guard for the fact in time it discolors and deforms from heat in time. He tested on his own bike. He ships very fast and has some really good pricing on the products he sells. I highly recommend him from my personal experience.

Buy carefully though. He offers all carbon parts in gloss finish and matte. Matte is pretty flat looking and appears more black then carbon look
