Anyone install the clear dp tank protector and have any tips for me? My first go it came out great and then the next day when I came back it had pealed up at the corners (I used rubbing alcohol to remove any oils prior.)

No sorry. Actually I've been surprised how well they adhere to the tank.

The only problem I've had is the first one the 'carbon' top later separated from the adhesive layer after a couple weeks but I think I'd placed it too far down so the curve of the tank too great. Has it come off the tank or has it split like mine?

I would talk to who you bought from, obviously it is not working correctly.

It came off the tank at the corners in the middle of the pad. If it was the carbon you wouldn't notice but its the DP clear tank protector so the slightest air bubble shows. I'm giving it one more go before I just buy the carbon one.

My DP carbon delaminated from the foam backing. I have replaced it with the Lieb-Speed Carbon one. An amazing piece of kit, IMHO it looks and works so much better.

I bought mine direct from Germany but Shift-Tech carbon who post on here sell them in the US. Perhaps Bellisimo too?

Don't do it. My dealer was told by their Ducati rep not to even bother ordering it because it peels off. If you want something clear, they recommend just getting a 3M film installed, which is what I'm going to do.

My DP clear tanked protector looked great when first fitted (according to instructions, cleaned with alcohol swab etc.), but the narrow 'neck' on it - which goes directly over the sharp radius on the tank just above the seat - lifted after 24 hours so I ditched. Has anyone successfully installed this??

mine was money wasted as well. Did a good job on install, but then started lifting up a few hours later. Tried to reapply with no success.

I wanted a clear to show off the aluminum tank on the R.

Eventually I'll go 3M since that seams to be the route everyone is going.

Obviously not made in-house.

So then, who's the factory's purchaser that approved this vendor's crappy product?
A little too much Anisette in the espresso during 'product evaluation' I reckon...

I've had good results with ProGrip stuff on my other bikes.
I'll give them a try.

Wow...that is amazing.

Mine looks exactly like that except maybe a little worse because dust and sand have settled into the places it is pulling up.

Literally....yours is coming up in exactly the same places and creasing the same. I thought I just did a really ...... job installing.

Hey Captain !

Isnt this the one you had on your white S when we met up in Arlington?

Rascal Grafik Almost Universal, Rascal Grafik Universal Tank Pad Puzz series Pink Sexy Fly - Tank pad Puzz - Tank Pads

Reminds me of that guy from Silence of the Lambs dancing around! :D:D

Haha.. On a serious note, +1 on the DP tank protector. I have the black one, but it has the same issue. You just can't see it because it isn't clear. I even tried cinching it down with painter's tape for a few days but the bottom is still coming up. +1 on progrip too. I have had one of those on my SF for years and it has never started to come up.

Mine came up a bit as well, so I put a small sheet metal screw in, and now it stays down. But for some reason, my mileage went down, and I smell gas all the time.

Maybe the screw has created an aerodynamics issue causing mileage to go down and the swirl of fumes to be wafted up from the tailpipe.

My clear came up just like the pic. I put some cuts on the lift area to try to relieve some of the stress points, to no avail. I pulled it off and now have the carbon one which is also lifting. I rather have it lift than to have it pull off the paint. The clear one I will bring back to the dealer and get replaced or my money back. I believe there is 2 year warranty on the accessories according to the brochure. I figure if I want the DP look, and I do, then have to put up with some of these defects in accessory material quality. The warranty should take care of it. Well I hacked up the clear one some so they may not take it back. It was like 30 bucks or something like that, lesson learned. 30 bucks on a tank pad that lasts like a couple of weeks, crazy.

I had the DP CF one installed before I picked it up, it started lifting in 6 months I think - I guess I can ask the dealer, but a new one will lift eventually anyway - I am thinking not enough to worry about

I'm glad I didn't buy one anyway, I was at the dealer the other day and the price tag on the carbon one was $76.99 + 12% tax? WTF? So 4x the price of your regular tank protector. DP by Ducati again.
