With DQS, it sometimes misses the shift from 4th to 5th, whatever the mode (race or sport)... It sometimes act like it gets into neutral, redline then back to 4th. Sometimes it gets into 5th then returns to 4th... It happens maybe 5% of the shift i make from 4 to 5... Anyone had this?

I can't remember which gears but usually if it quick shift between 1st and 2nd in sport mode it hits neutral and red lines which spooked me.... So I rarely quick shift...

Try bleeding the clutch master and slave cylinders.

how would that help when you don't pull the clutch in when quick shifting?

bikes have dog gears and you only need the clutch when starting from a stand still. any bike can shift without the clutch. all the quick shifter does is cut timing to momentarily remove power to allow the shift lever to move the trans into the next gear without having to remove throttle to unload the trans, you can keep it pinned. completely unrelated to the clutch.

the quick shifter doesn't delay power application forever so you need to make a positive shift. do not leisurely click the next gear, if you want to do that then pull the clutch in. the dqs is meant for full throttle shifts that you bang into the next gear.

also, make sure you completely remove pressure from the shift lever after making a shift. if you maintain pressure until the next time to shift it may not engage fully into the next gear. so remove pressure completely, then preload the shifter with your foot slightly, when it is time to shift bang the next gear firmly then again remove all pressure and then redo it for the next shift.

point being, the issue you are having has nothing to do with the quick shifter mechanism. it is user error.

here's a link to what a dog box trans is

I never use the clutch when up shifting a motorcycle. I only use the clutch to downshift and I also make sure to rev match unless I am slowing down for a turn like into my neighborhood where I don't plan to reaccelerate but simply cruise at low speed. only then will I slow down in high gear and click down all at once to second or whatever with the clutch in right before the turn.

Lower the lever a bit, cured it for me.

Baisse ton shifter un peu pis c'est reglé.

The bmw s1000rr never has this problem its just the Ducati not user error....

Panigales need their master cylinder bled every 500 miles or so. You can tell it needs when the engagement point of the clutch gets closer and closer to the grip. You will also notice when this happens, that the DQS doesn't work as well; hence my suggestion.

they are not related. correlation is not causation. in other words, it's in your head.

I agree. naturally the DQS does not want to upshift when in compression or completely off throttle. Slight release of throttle on upshift will enable smoother shift with DQS, Downshifting with slight add to throttle will smooth out downshifts. The manual talks about being assertive with shifting and shifting controls used correctly and with promptness.

mine did this when new...though after a few kms / miles it sorted itself out

same here...it went away after a while in my case

Had this happen on a ride in the weekend, like a false neutral, mine was between 5-6th, looked at the gear display, revved the bike still like in neutral, waited a second then appeared to be in gear, did this twice, decided to be ore aggressive on up change, no more issues rest of the ride. I did see a yellow star appear on the left of the dash had ICP? Or something similar, unable to read it without my glasses, turned bike of, restarted and it was gone, possible connection. Bike still performed as it should so not really concerned at this point, however dealer notified.

have it happen regularly... mainly due to keeping foot to high in prep for next shift.. the lever has to come down before it can shift again... even knowing this, it still happens as i'm to eager to shift...

Thanks for all the advices, Ill try to figure out what i do differently shifting from 4 to 5th, because it never happens in other gears.
