Seeking anyone using the Ducabike rear sets and feedback on them.
It can be either good or bad, as I have them myself and absolutely love their style and craftsmanship. Just had my own issue with a bolt coming off that left me stranded for a bit. You can note your issue Mark419.

Please feel free to report any issues or praises as I will be including this thread link in my email to them in Italy. Im sure my contact their would like to hear anything good or bad.

I love them. The bolt also came off on mine at 140kph on the motorway on returning from my dealer who fitted them. Scary .... that was! He did not use any Loctite though. All secure & I know check my nuts on a regular basis...........

i didnt lose it but almost. lucky i looked at my refueling stop. 200 miles from home 50 miles away from gunny. up a creek with no paddle if this fell out. there is nothing holding the screw in place it just threads in.

this is unacceptable.

and dont give me this crap about its a vtwin or its a duc you should know. this is totally an oversight by ducati in every way. not only do you have to worry about people cutting you off throwing things out of their car stop signs etc. i have to worry if my bike will fall apart during a ride.

next day me and gunny go riding his comes apart. lucky he found the screw and it was a 4mm allen which i had with me. mine was a 6 had to use a flat head screwdriver

nothing about this on the hp4 forum. i cant believe everyone accepts this.

I know we have had this discussion before, so anyone on here in the last year should know to tighten bolts, especially after dealer installs. I am not excusing Ducati or dealers for properly tightening/loctiting bolts, but as I posted in the past, even my 1980 Z1R manual says to check bolts before each ride :)

I'm pretty sure Ducabike instructions tell you NOT to use locktite. So I followed the instructions. And my toe thingy on my shift lever fell off. And then I lock tighted everything.
The End.

ive taken most of my bike apart and there wasnt loctite on anything but the bar ends and some stuff that had red on them, but the majority of the bolts had nothing on it at all. i put it all there.

im so sick of everyone defending ducati. they did not test this bike right, they dont know what they are doing to fix it, and the techs need me to tell them about the recalls and problems. they rushed the launch of it and have many problems. they are up to i think the 6th dash but still claim there is nothing wrong. the new heat shield is melting my rear huger but they wont do anything cause its after market, however the plastic one has no chance with the new heat shield.
it takes 3 hours do do a simple coolant change. 3 hours to change your wind screen. when i was at the stealership there were 2 guys there one with an r and one with an hp4. the r guy asked me how do you like the bike. i made a face. he said everyone makes the same face. the bmw guy has no problems raved about the bike and does everything himself.

I am getting the hp4. i may sell this bike i dont know yet. i can say this for certain though. this will be my first and last ducati.

its very sad that during a ride (which before i left i checked ALL THE BOLTS) i have to worry about things falling off the bike while i ride. makes it worse that i had to take out my tool kit and had to keep thinking is my rear cowl going to go flying off.\

when the s1000rr had its issue bmw addressed it recalled them all and did what had to be done. Ducati still claiming that there isnt any issues Give me a break.

But what fell off wasn't Ducati?

it was installed by ducati. the 3 screws to my heat shield was ducati (which fell off twice), the mirrors being loose was ducati, and my key guard bolts were ducati. must i go on?

I am totally opposite - comletely love the bike, with no problems. The one screw in the winshield loose the first week. So if not all the bikes are having problems, it is hard to find reasons for issues. I don't thoink there ar a lot of people defendoing Ducati here, quite the opposite. But most people ome to a forum to fix issues and underatnd their bike. Another, smaller group, comes to rave about it.

That said, I am very sorry for your issues, and other than any heat related ones, I know they are real, and a pain in the "arse" for you. I love my Beemer also, but it's too civil, comfortable, easy to ride. It is everything the Ducati is not, and therefore, rarely is ridden :)

PS I do have Ducabike rear-rear sets (peg!), and they look great, and have never come off!

im glad your not having issues. I have had something from day 1 and i know you actually ride your bike often from what you post and having talked to you. I also know many let their bike sit in their garage and dont ride and will claim nothing wrong. when their warranty is up they will ride and find out the hard way with 500 miles on it being 2 years old.

I was with gunny on sunday. his shifter fell apart. he hadnt been on his bike in a while and they were professionally installed. i think thats a problem. I know its a vtwin. i know there are vibrations. most bikes have these issues and you dont hear it as much.

The bike looks great runs great and i get pleasure in riding it, however i dont want to spend a day riding then a day fixing id rather 2 days riding.

I'd really hate to lose you as an owner/forum contributor, but would certainly understand. This is my first Ducati, and yes, not looking forward to June 2014 when I lose my warranty :)

I wouldn't blame your dealer's lack of skill (or specifically the tech) on the Ducati brand. You can't say this is the case at every Ducati dealer in the world so it's not "a Ducati thing".
