i ride ducati 998 and absolultey love the torque. i want to buy 1199S i have 2 concerns

Heat, how does it compare to 998

also is 1199 going to feel weaker or stronger compared to 998 torque.

i commute in south florida

thanks

I haven't ridden a 998 so i don't know how it pulled or how the torque is.

The panigale compared to an inline 4 seems to have a lot off the bottom. But most of the power is in the higher revs from what I understand. But it will still pull pretty nicely to me anyways in the lower area.

The Panigale's torque will trump the 998 from 3,000rpm up so do not worry about it.

I love the 998 and it is bike that made me interested with sportsbike. Most specialy the yellow one. Ride the 1199 and you will know that the 1199 is a very much improved bike. the handling is also very different. I prefer the 1199's handling better. it is more neutral . When I test rode a 998 it felt like it wants to stand up on its own when you lean the bike.

thanks of the feedback on torque question.

how does the heat of 998 compare to 1199, especially riding in traffic

I had a 998 before and I find the heat is the same. I find every Ducati sport bike to be the same.

Riding Ducati superbikes you need to have highly tempered big balls. Ducati is just helping the process along.

When I first got the bike I hit traffic leaving the dealership. My right leg got mega hot. That was first and last time. I'll illegally ride the side lane before I get stuck in it again.

At any RPM the 1199 has far more torque than the 998. Look at some dyno graphs. Of course, to be completely accurate you'd have to dyno 'em both back to back on the same dyno, but there's as much as a 20 ft/lb difference under 5k rpm. And even if the torque comparison was roughly the same, the extra 60 horsepower are hard to ignore.

The 1199 destroys the 998 everywhere, everytime, in every category. 998s are great bikes, but absolutely nothing compared to the Panigale.

I had a 998. Bought it new and put 24k hard track and street miles on it. Did the same with a 1198. I had always wanted to find a low mileage 998 to keep because I remembered it so lovingly. Well about a year ago after owning my Pani a year, a 3k mile red mono poped up for sale here in town. I took a morning off work and went over to pick it up. The owner wanted full payment before a test drive. After handing over the money, I went for a long test drive. My rose tinted glasses were off, no way I would ride it much. The thing felt like a tractor. A low powered tractor at that. I did not buy it to say the least.

Can't talk about the 998, but I have a 1098 with full Termi.
The 1098 is a bit smoother in the delivery, but there is no match with my 1199 (with Termi too).
The 1199 is brutal and the 40-ish HP difference seem actually more.

when I was 22 years old, I made a bucket list that I should own a 998 one day. I am now saving every now and then to make it a reality. I will not use it much but I want a yellow one. I will wax to make it shiny. I want a 998 that is all stock, I do not want any after market parts in it. hopefully in three years my dream would come true.

Do Ducati's still make maintenance parts for the 998's?

thanks of the feedback on torque question.

Well you know what they say, buy a Ducati sports bike and a Bacon griller comes for free. Both bikes are equally hot but based on my limited experience, the 998 is a tad more warmer
