Does the v4r need the full exhaust/upmap to rev to 16k rpm? I was told it did and without it it will max at 13k rpm.

don't know about standard exhaust but with the race kit/Akra it hits the rev limiter @16.5k in top gear easily! ;):D

Well it was part if the sales pitch on the full akra/upmap so I wanted to see if the rev limit thing was true

On US bikes the ECU is restricted. It will still rev past 13k, but it's not making full power. The Akra upmap from the dealer isn't restricted, so if you want full power then you have to get the Akra + dealer upmap. Perhaps in the future there will be other tuning solutions as well.

Yep, restricted

From the below thread:

Here's the deal. Check out this link on the US EPA site, row 78, it's the V4R. Says 153kW at 13,250 rpm. The regular V4 is 158kW at 12500.

https://www.epa.gov/sites/production...6-present.xlsx

Ducati's site says the V4R without the Akra should be 162kW at 15,250. So it looks like the US bikes are restricted in stock form to the tune of ~12hp and ~2,000 rpm. Hopefully the up-map removes the restriction.

By the way, for the regular V4/V4S, the EPA data is almost exactly the same as Ducati's published figures (without Akra).

And in full (if the above links didn't work, the original post seems to):

Get a tune.
Bren tune did not solve the issue, i then got the bike Dyno tuned. The bike still will not rev past 15,500 in 6th gear. At least 1\2 dozen V4r owners here are experiencing the same issues. I have come to the conclusion that European ECU is needed for the bike too totally rev out. See the attached video, this is what the V4R are doing in Europe. NOT HERE!!

I would think the CDN version is the same as the North America version. We did not get the Euro version up here.
My 23 V4R red lined at 16K with stock pipe, tune Same with Akra, and tune.
Big difference in power.
I haven't had the chance to see 6th gear topped out yet to see 16500.

Please let me know when you have the chance to test six gear. As far as I’m concerned, fifth gear runs all the way to the red line. The situation here is, Top Gear, six gear. The bike will not run past 15,500. If you look at the video clip that I posted previously, the bikes in Europe are running all the way out to 16,500

I compared part # from Duc Omaha, Duc parts Europe. 28643761. Same #'s different letters at the end.
US, letter C, euro, last letter A.
Daniel Deussen, Deusssen Engines, should know if there is a difference.
