I'm buying my first ducati in a few days ( V2) but have been dreaming about them since 1985 when I had a poster of a 750 on my wall. Several bikes have come and gone over the years but only one remained in my possession for the long term, a 1994 CBR 900 RR. It was a great bike until it suffered a fatal starter explosion and was sold to a collector for a full restoration. I thought that would be the end of my riding days, and at the age of 53 I was ok with it. Then fate smiled at me and I am about to acquire a panigale V2. I feel rejuvenated and excited to ride again. Admittedly, the 20-something part of me still wants a V4s but my older and wiser self knows that my crazy antics and track days are behind me and the V2 is more than enough fun for the street. I am already planning some basic mods : rear cowl, tail tidy and rear peg removal, brake and clutch reservoirs, radiator guards, bar end mirrors, heat sheild, and throttle spacers to start with and I'll see where it leads. Too bad there is still a foot of snow here in MA , but spring is just around the corner.

What part of MA?
You should come and do some Ducati Rev events.
You should come do a day up at Club Motorsports etc.

I live in Framingham and work in Newton. I would love to join in on some events , hopefully they are on Sundays since I work Saturdays. Where can I find info on upcoming events ?
Thanks !!

Congrats! After many years of dirt riding I started my street riding on a '67 CB450.
Ya, this era of motorcycles are a WHOLE NEW ball game. You'll get used to it! Don't ever think you're "too old." Out-of-shape is usually the truth.
Sorry if you're already a rock-star. Just sharing. IMHO the track is a great place to get in shape, better than the street. No cars, no dogs, driveways, everyone is going in the same direction... Sometimes it's the best work out for one's ego, (Just let the faster guys be faster, and just have fun riding your own ride)
Have fun!

Some riding organizations in the area are: Penguin racing school (Eric Wood) is an amazing coach, kinda fast on a bike too. Fishtail riding school: great group of guys that have their focus on safety and enviroment. There is also Tonys track days, i have not ridden with this group. New York safety track is another place, a great track, but i would suggest going with a private organization as the crew who runs NYST are goons

thanks for the info. I think I did a couple of Penguin track classes at Loudon back in the 90's

Great introduction nevets77 and an excellent choice with the V2.Bet you cant sleep at night waiting until it gets home to you! What colour did you choose- Red or White? Like yourself- I went from a Honda inline 4 to a Ducati twin and it really is a special "thing" riding a Ducati twin.Welcome to the Panigale family.

Yeah, I'm having a little trouble sleeping and concentrating at work... I went with the red simply because I have always thought it was a signature color. The white with red is gorgeous, but my last bike was white/black,red and a change is always nice. Besides , I might regret not getting the iconic red. My dealer has a new 2021 in stock and ready for delivery but until the spring thaw I will be loosing more sleep waiting to ride. The only consolation is having it in the garage to sit on, start, and put some of the bolt on mods.

Welcome fellow V2 owner from MA. I'm in the Burlington/Woburn area. Who'd you purchase the bike from?

I'm getting the bike from Seacoast sport cycle in Derry NH. They were recommended to me from someone who has had several Ducati's and they were definitely the nicest and most helpful so far from phone conversations. The only problem might be for service, since they are over an hour from where I live and work.

I bought my V2 from them also, great group of folks there. They're top notch for service also even if it is a bit of a hike.

I can tell you this, the guys at Seacoast are a great bunch of guys.
I know the owners and many of the employees there, they live by their moto, they sell what they race.
They are very helpful and professional.

You should join Penguin Racing School.
IF you join the learn to fly program you can get 20% off the purchase of your parts and get podium points.
Check it out!

Thanks ! I had a great experience with Jim aside from one thing. I wish it wasn't so far from where I live. I'm super excited to be getting back on a bike after almost two years and with it being my first Ducati it will be even better. I thought after 40 years of riding I had gotten my fill but I was wrong. The V2 is beautiful and absolutely the right choice for me, but after seeing some of the inventory at Seacoast I almost felt like I was buying the Turd :p. I'll definitely check out Penguin, I remember having a great time with them many years ago and it would be nice to experience the V2 in a proper environment. The snow storm outside today is a delay in my delivery and first ride...

Congrats. I also had a great experience with Seacoast when I purchased my 899 a few years ago, and every other visit since. Also from MA Saugus/Lynn area.
