Hey guys, I think I told you that I would keep you up to date on my bikes troubles.

I went to pick up my bike at my Dealer and well HOW do I say? I DON'T HAVE MY BIKE BACK YET!.

GERRRRRRRRR!!!!

I just had to get that off my chest.

Has anyone delt with Ducati on a bike buy-back???

I've had my dealer pull me around a few times too. I would switch to someone else, or at least take it to another dealer and see what they say about it. Also, my bike did something similar a while back where it was chugging just from a stop to go. I thought it might have been the clutch but it turned out one of my secondary injectors was loose?? Sucks when you have to hunt the problem. I would drop it off to them, and tell them not to bring it back til they fix it. While they may not be able to test it on the road of course, it is their obligation to fix the bike. What they are saying goes against the warranty policy. They need to take it to a dyno or somewhere else where they can recreate the events.

Thanks elitesoldier, At this point my dealer is asking me to trust in him and in Ducati. He said he is going to his Ducati District Manager and ask if they will replace my bike.

I hope He can get Ducati to stand behind there product and do the right thing. There is much more to this story but I will refrain from disclosing more tell I see how they deal with this. I will post more as I hear from them.

Thanks again

Sounds like they have you covered! My dealer has really picked up the pace since it caught fire a while back and the warranty rep had to come up and get them to work on the bike cause it had been sitting their with the cover over it for more than a month. Before, I was all angry and pissed off just like FrostyFire. Now they give me all kinds of free stuff and cut me some good deals on services and parts, 20% off parts. They have improved a LOT over the past year. Best of luck to you! Keep us updated on how it turns out.

Update time. wow what a pain in the arse this bike has been :)

I could go on and on about how my bike was a lemon or how my Dealer was in over his head and mistreating me all along but I’ll spare you from my crying :) let’s Just say I'm looking for a new dealer and he's not in Orange County California If you need to know more just ask.

So I will just get to the list and then tell you the fix.

I had the same spring on my slip on brake 5 times
two of the times the spring hung down scratching the slip on
so I had the slip on replaced twice
I had them upgrade to a Termi slip-on with a ECU up-map
bike started to backfire flames out the back dealer said it was, me not using the quick shifter so I always used the quick shifter after that but it kept backfiring tell the new up-map came in and was installed.
then 4th gear started to slip like the clutch was slipping but only in 4th. dealer told me he can’t test the bike at that speed so sorry.
then my Dash melted and the new one they installed fogged up on the way home.
I got the letter from Ducati about the 41T sprocket so I had them change the sprocket to 41t and a quick change carrier, countershaft sprocket and new chain and they again did not change the dash the also did not have the ECU map for the new 41T on the ride home the bike bucked spit sputtered they told me it was DTC not liking the 41T without the up-map so I turned off DTC and it bucked more wildly
I returned to the shop they remove the 41t and return it to a 39T and the bucking now starts at 7000 RPM - 9000RPM I return to dealer with the bike after detail cleaning the bike the night before and drop it off 3 days later I'm called and told the bike could not be tested without a new tire due to cards showing on my tire hmmm I had just cleaned the bike head to toe hmmmm
After giving the ok for new tire I’m called telling me the fix for my Dash was to drill a bunch of holes in the back of my Dash to let out and moisture that gets in to fog it up and that my bike is fixed and that it was the DTC not liking my bad tire and the ECU was re-flashed. I say No you can't drill my dash and go in to pick up my bike where I’m told again it was the bad tire and the DTC not liking the bad tire and a ECU re-flash then the owner comes over telling me he was the test rider and he rode my bike up to 154 MPH and rode the hell out of it and the bike rides normal there was never any problem at all.

He went on to say that The 11992 should NEVER be used on Race mode on the street and how race mode was ONLY for the track use ONLY and it was also my ridding style that was bad because he would never find himself holding 7000RPM anywhere so it was my bad ridding style and I needed to be in only Sport or Wet mode on the street.

when he brought it out for me to test the new tire looked like it had never touched the ground so I asked to see the old tire and it looked like someone did a burn out with it. so hmmm I wonder how that they could not test the bike tell they got a new tire on it and the new never touched the ground but the old had a burn out stripe down the center hmmmm maybe 154MPH and ridding the HELL out of it hmm

so I test the bike pull over switch to Race mode bring it up to 7000 RPM and Buck spit jump errrrrrrrrrr I head back tell him to ride it at 7000 rpm and he comes back saying yep it's there but is because you are in Race mode he begs me to let him go to Ducati to have my bike replaced for all the issues.

I went up the chain of command at Ducati and found someone to help me he sent a testing tool that would allow them hook the bike up to a laptop and it would record what the bike was doing on the road.

End result They replaced my ECU saying that the info the ECU was getting from the bike was different then what was being sent to the bike by the ECU and that it was a first for them to see the ECU malfunction like this they also replaced the dash with a new dash that has anti fog product on it and replaced my tire and the 41t sprocket then ran the bike on the Dyno and delivered the bike to me. My first ride was back to the dealer to get the 2 main screws on the front of the fairing that they forgot to put on

The bike now runs amazing and it's soooo good to know it's not my poor ridding style LMAO needless to say I need a new dealer sorry if I rambled here guys but it has been hell and then some let’s just say I gave you the clean version of all that happened.

I would say do all of CA owners a favor and post the dealer. We don't want fellow members having to deal with the same BS.

They made their bed, let them sleep in it.

Glad it finally worked out. Seems odd that a dealer that ignorant could stay in business. Are they Ducati only or multi-brand?
Thanks branch

Yes and I'm just one guy. They seemed to be good guys when I first met them. It's beyond me.

Wow, way to hang in there - I would keep wanting just to wake up from that nightmare and it all go away! )

I'm still in it I just opened up my Tail section and my Registration and insurance and New DUCATI DOCUMENT HOLDER are missing. Back to the dealer.

WOW, what ...... tards!
As we've discussed in PM's, mine surges between 4000 and 7500 RPM. Dealer told me I was just not used to a twin. I explained that this was my 3rd Ducati Superbike and I also had a RC51 and several Harley's. Then they said it was from the new oversquare bore.. Then they said it needed a Termi and upmap. Like a moron, I did it, no change.
Had the latest map loaded in December. I got a long ride in today and no change. Rode in all modes, all nanny's off, still surging. This really blows. I traded a F4 Agusta that was tits for this thing because the riding position of the F4 was killing my old bones. Should have kept the F4 and taken up Yoga:D.

Supernova - glad you finally got it sorted. Hopefully smooth sailing from here.

Hey Lance,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Mine surges pretty badly but only below 4,500 rpm, I've got the latest base map and only picked up my bike a couple weeks ago.

I also had an F4 and absolutely loved it. I owned it for 4 years but the MV parts situation just got too bad for me to take any more. 16 weeks for fork seals!

She was the most beautiful motorcycle I've ever had though, hands down. Like a stunning Italian mistress, she could definitely be a pain in the ass sometimes but when you were using her for what she was built for - Belissima! Eccitante!
