looks like for a $1000 bump like the S model the standard will now be offered with ABS.
Check with your dealer soon if you want one because we have to get our order change up in by next week.. we were also given an option to juggle balance of S-ABS vs non S-ABS. Based on the initial response/orders we swapped a few S's for more S-ABS models..

Interesting, everything I've read for the last month has listed the standard as available with ABS as a $1000 option.

Now you say this is new... I don't get it?

A std 1199 with ABS was not offered for US market to begin with. They just decided last week to offer a std 1199-ABS, we just placed orders for them Friday

yup, definately something to ponder now. wonder what the cost of the S rims and a standard ohlins setup would cost. will definately have to ride the electronic suspension to see if I like it.

can I get a full ohlins suspension and the S rims for less than 5 grand and would it be worth it at that point?

For around $5 you could get light wheels and a rear TTX and you'd be good. Front forks on the std should be very good by the sounds of it.

A little less if you go with marchesini forged alloy instead of mag. These wheels are about $2500 for the pair.

Good points on the wheels and the shock... the only other thing I like about the S over the standard are the new LED headlights.

Does anyone have pictures of the base model forks?

50mm Marzochi's should be gorgeous:D

they're not the red anodized forks that marz sells aftermarket.

also notice the cast alloy wheels on this base bike, brand new for the 1199.

I've had Marzocchi forks on both my Brutale and now on my multi, they are excellent but unfortunately the oem units I've sampled are not quite as nice as the Ohlins
The forks on the 1199 should be a step above the ones I've used so far.

EASY ACCESS
it really make sense to have the shock here for easy access.Could even do fine or minimum adjustment with the provided knobs while at the lights or moving slowly out of the parking lot...pretty smart.makes cleaning easy without reaping your knuckles..Just like single sided swimg-arm for quick rear wheel access, this is single sided rear shock!nice

not sure why the DES for the shock since is already easily accessible with this location?
Would be nice to have a 1199s with the non-DES ohlins though...

PROTECTION
I'm sure there will be aftermarket for extra protection should you drop....then again likely the barends/clutchlever ,footpeg, tail piece will take the first impact....
