I've been following this forum for about a year now. I finally took the plunge and purchased a 2013 1199 ABS in White. Before I bought it, I read every major review and most forum threads involving the 1199 pros and cons. The Heat complaints were a major concern to me. I thought (from many of the threads on this forum) it would be a 2 wheeled convection oven. A lot of people fussed and ragged and about the heat! Anyway, I traded in my 08 1000rr and took ownership of a 13 white 1199! My first impressions, It puts kicks out heat! More heat than my 07 R1 ( hottest bike I've had) but it's nothing serious. Def notice the heat, but it's not uncomfortable. If I had one major gripe, it would be that plank of wood they call a seat! I went for my first hard ride ( almost 250miles in the middle of the Arizona summer) and the seat tried its best to ruin it for me. Heading up highway 89 to Jerome I found myself in some of the best tightest switchbacks in the state and my ass hurt, not to mention sliding about in the saddle. Hard as a rock and zero grip! Enough of the gripes, The motor is dope! I love it I felt like the rocketeer! Blasting in and out of corners under 6K rpm of course! I'm in love with this machine. Ducati hit a homerun with this one. I've pulled over twice in the week I've had it for speeding and both times the cops couldn't focus, instead we both stood back and stared at my bike! It's like a dude magnet. Runs like a beast and I'm glad I didn't let the heat crys scare me away

Get the comfort seat...Its the best... helps with the heat too... a bit..:)

Congrats and welcome! If you're man enough to live in Phoenix year-round, then the Pani heat isn't going to scare you off.

Great choice of road too. My in-laws lived in Prescott for several years and I loved it out there. 89 and 89a from south of Prescott to North of Sedona is just epic.

If you like the bike now, just wait till you rev it out - it will blow your mind coming from your CBR and even R1.

Your bike probably came with the new heat shield. If so, you can thank all the heat cryers that complained about the heat to force Ducati to engineer a real heat shield. If you don't have the new heat shield, check your leg for blisters.

it's kinda amusing actually; you have JeffD going on about some Arizona factoids and personal asides and that dummy AlohaMark yapping away all thinking this is legit new owner.

the nature of reality really is irrelevant most of the time.....it's all perceptions.....

Oh fudge.....

Well I guess from my point of view it was an attempt (in vain it seems) to keep things moving in a normal way but this situation has gotten insane.... and still the owner does nothing.....

embrace the insane. the world is insane. everyone's FOS to a point. Andy Kaufman lives as Craig when he once took a dump and out came craigslistbuyermn.

time to ride at night........

correct, it did come from the dealer with the new heat shield installed, but I removed it and installed a RC carbon shield. The excess heat does come in handy, my buddy and I got hit with a monsoon down pour on our way back to PHX! I switched to rain mode just for the hell of it. The heat helped dry my pants and lower body.
