Ducati Streetfigher V4 2021 Fork Preload

I have a question about the fork preload adjustment on a Streetfigher V4. In the manual (german) it says to start on a fully opened setup. The say to fully open it it should be turned all the way clockwise and then turned 7 rounds counter-clockwise to set it to normal street preload.

My question is this right? In their way i am turning it from "harder" to "softer" (its getting lighter to turn on the screw i mean).

I have on a unloaded for about 120mm travel and when its standing after a pump i have 84mm left. When I sit on it it barley changes. Doesn't seem right.

Is it possible that if i have overturned the preload screw that i damaged something in the fork? (more than the 9 turnes, defenitly happened)

Hope to figure this out here. Thanks in advance.

You would turn the adjusters counter clockwise to get to “fully open” which means all preload is removed. You would then add 7 turns by turning clockwise.

You would be turning from softer, less or no preload, to harder or more preload.

You can’t damage the preload by turning it too much. It merely hits the end of the threads. I suppose you could damage it by forcing it but you’d likely round the blue anodized adjuster first.

Thank you very much for the quick response. Helped me a lot. I have no blue adjuster you mean the red one?

How much should the difference be between unloaded and loaded in the forks travel?

Rider Sag should be around 30% of travel.
If the cable tie above is what where you normally ride the bike (without wheelies or emergency braking) your pre-load and perhaps comp also is too low.
If fact, you're bottoming out.
Start with pre-load and see if the cable-tie moves to around 75% of total travel. Keep a log.
Something like this although this is for a manual Ohlins suspension on a Monster 1200R (FYI I weigh 80kg fully kitted, YMMV):

Suspension settings are a journey, not a destination.
