Ducati Superleggera Owner Roll Call!

I agree here. . . If its posted by the owner - its fine. . My disagreement is asking people that when they see an SL, to go up to the triple tree and take a picture and post it. That owner may have never wanted his bike posted, may have never posted it and may prefer not to have any identifying marks to be posted. That was the issue - not the ones that were already posted, but to go out and search and fine ones that had not been and snap a picture w/o the owners knowledge or consent. While its certainly not illegal (there are some private property concerns as well as if it somehow goes to commercial usage issues) - I classify this under the "not cool" and no common courtesy. . I have zero issues with the bike shot or posted. I just don't think it should go as far as the triple tree number as I have known some previous owners of certain numbered bikes that opposed people taking shots of their triple tree.

So I assume those owners covered up their "secret" number when they had the bike in public? Not ripping you, I just don't understand how they could possibly have an issue?

I can't figure out if @anthem is being serious... What can you possibly do with this number? Even if you had some inside track to dmv, what would you say... "I am looking for #55 of 100." They wouldn't have a clue what the f you were talking about.

An SL is a tiny speck in the universe.

The SL doesn't follow the same numbering scheme as previous "R" models, but if you had the triple tree, you essentially had the VIN in previous R models. They were predictably numbered that way. . on the SL Ducati does not appear to be actually producing in numbered order, but based on country of delivery, by batch and by deposit. . . So the US will get 2 or maybe 3 batches, and their numbers are going to be by deposit date and not by the actual production date.

Just as in some people prefer their license plates not to be published, some hide the VIN'S as well. .

Look, if you feel any obligation to ask whether you can take a picture while the owner is there, then that means there is or should be some courtesy extended on that front.. Otherwise, doesn't matter if the owner is there or not, right - just snap away without asking him/her and ask that they get out of your way so you can get your pictures.

Here is mine, in Gilbert, Az.

Mine has officially arrived at FBF. I am #218 and won't be picking her up until Saturday (ohhh the wait will kill me....)

This poor excuse for an image is all I have to go on (from the dealer) until I get down there.

#158 and 163 were the ones that showed up today in Portland. 35 and 38 are in the shop right now too. 37 left last week.

This thread certainly hasn't gone as expected....

Rename this post and start over/try again?

Perhaps along with a shot of the triple we could include speculation of the owner's religion, political affiliation, and sexual preference...

Looks too small for you.....lol;)

Haha, I do feel a bit like Grape Ape on it

Surprisingly the stock springs just may be stiff enough, however.

I am having so much fun already... it is just BEGGING to be redlined...

If he grows a beard he will look like his avatar!!!!

By the way, so jealous of all the 500 having an SL, absolutely awesome machine, but then again I love my Panigale base, more than enough bike for me, it's more about having the bragging rights of owning such a machine with a limited production run.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the paint scheme on this otherwise incredible machine?
