Ducati throttle SPACER

$70 is twice as much as they should be. Where did you order them from?

Sorry.

I double checked they we're 37$, but since i had to have them imported to Norway there we're more expensive.

Bought from motomillion.

Honestly. Don’t do it. Yes, they feel like they help with the slack, but the slack is there for a reason. Throttle control… especially on the track where i spend all my time requires a decent amount of slack. Every Master certified Ducati tech i’ve spoke to, has told me that they cause major issues over time.

A few have even seen a few bikes bought back because of the problems they cause. There was nothing wrong with the bikes. They screw up the parameters in the ecu and the bike gets confused. Sometimes the quick shifters don't work right and they usually always have a hard time starting. I've contacted the guy who makes them and requested he modify the design. He got really mad and blocked me.

I installed them

took them off after my first trackday

Having problems with the bike keeping accelerating while braking, becase of cero slack

took them off, everything back to normal

after a a few days you get acustom to the slack

like you say, everything is in your head

throttle is fine stock

exactly! i don’t ride on the street but can see how dangerous they could be on the track

Sorry to hear of the problems with the spacers. Sounds like there may be some installation issues…. My ‘21 V4SP has no issues at all with them and I prefer the precise feel.

I did inspect the throttle sensor during installation and it looked like you could install only one of them and have a tiny bit of slack from the buildup of clearances for the throttle tube, etc.

$37 to $70? What a rip off! Look around your shop you'll find something to use, its not rocket science. I used some neoprene hose total cost .001 cent. Tried it for a while, then went back to having some freeplay.

you have a new bike.... the issues appear over time...

This is true. I forget if its the big or little one though.

I do think some slop is necessary. Other bikes with RBW throttles don't have physical slop in the throttle though, BWM S1000RR by example. Pure speculation here, but I wonder if there's a different system in play where there's electronic free play which is invisible to the rider.

What issues are you speaking of? Is it different for the v4's over the 1x99's?
My bike is 9yrs old, owned since new and I have 1 of the 2 spacers installed and have had them for majority of those 9yrs. Haven't had any issues. I'm not a fan of the spacer to begin with so I put in one and just left it in there with a tiny bit of play. 100% street only bike. Only 6500 miles on it in 9yrs though.

No installation issues. You literally cant install them wrong.

I think i'll either remove the spacers or try and grind them slightly down to have some slop. It really ..... with my quickshifter atleast, but other than that bike starts perfectly fine and everything. Just wont let me downshift always unless i actually push against the throttle in closed position.

See my original post. It really only affects the new bikes with ride by wire and newer starters

The install is indeed pretty straightforward, but any dirt, dust, anything that may affect the clearances can cause the throttle to not close completely which will certainly cause the QS issues.

For those that seem to cause problems after some use the dirt/dust is almost certainly the root cause. It could also cause an intermittent problem. Using only one spacer or sanding some of them off will add just a bit of extra clearance.

Holy crap, pretty ....... simple. Your throttle has two potentiometers. A primary and a secondary. You have a closed and open voltage in both. The secondary at WOT will only give you half the voltage as the primary (primary fails, you’re in limp mode) uh well the bikes in limp mode, you may or not be in limp mode but that’s a different conversation.

Unplug the throttle, refer to the schematic (it’s in the back of your manual) put voltage to the + lead and ground to the - hook the + lead of the meter to the trigger. Measure the throttle closed voltage and the throttle open voltage on the primary POT. Install the spacers. Look at it again. If there is a variation in the numbers, your spacers are an issue. If there are no variations, the spacers are not an issue. You can avoid all this if you happen to have a diagnostic tool that allows you to look at TPS values.
