Ducati throttle SPACER

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I need to rent a V4 throttle from someone who isn’t using it. I need to take voltage readings off the pots so I can see if I can mod a Domino to work on the 99 platform.

Went out tonight and verified throttle position properly reads from 0% to 100% with the spacers installed. Verified via my aim solo 2 DL
The throttle spacers should only effect the interface between the throttle tube and the pot controller. They should have zero effect on the pot’s. The pot”s should always read 0-100. Additionally, 0-100 is the position of the pot’s closed to the pot’s fully open and may or may not represent throttle mapping to the actual injector body.

that’s all well and good but isn’t relevant to what I was trying to see. What I was looking for was the spacer inhibiting the throttle twisting full open or returning fully closed. Does not appear to be the case.

Yeah, I think the issue is if they aren't dimensionally correct it can inhibit either 0% or 100% throttle.

Ok, I guess I don’t see how that’s possible The throttle spacers don’t come into contact with any part of the spring load potentiometer body that could possibly limit travel. It’s strictly an interface to the tube and the tube is free floating

I was just curious how far off in dimension the spacers would have to inhibit the throttle. I doubt its something you could test by riding, you'd likely have to read it with some type of tool.

The Bren handheld does it. I have one. I seriously can’t mechanically see how the spacers could ever impact the mechanical aspects of the potentiometer housing unless they were grossly huge enough to interfere with some part of the throttle assembly housing. They don’t come in contact with any part of the assembly that impedes rate limit of the spring loaded assembly. They only contact the throttle tube which again is free floating and itself has no rotation limitations. If you see otherwise, LMK I’ll look at it.

you may be correct, I don’t know but seems like people have had issues with spacers or zip ties causing the throtttle to be cracked open a little when released, which was why I was curious to just validate I get a 0 and 100 reading when released and full to the mechanical stop.

We’ll it can for sure happen if there is interference and it actually did happen to me but it was an issue between the pot control and the housing. I had one of the first Jetprime aluminum housings for the 99. I had to grind out spots on the inside to allow the pot wheel to freely rotate. Total mess. I can see someone making some spacers out of something that rubs on the housing

Be careful on which CnC racing throttle tube you actually get in hand. I have had both the older version MPA01B is identical tolerance to the oem tube. The correct one you want is the MPA10B which is correct its machined close to as if you had the spacers. If you order from Omaha good chance you will get the older tube I know that cause local buddy just recently ran into that. If you order from Bellissi Moto you will get the correct one.

Regardless using the spacers, CnC racing tube its critical to make sure the throttle is closing all the way. If you turn on ignition TPS won't reset and bike will not start.

what i like about the MPA10B is that they are not trying to cheat you.

Hey guys,

Just want to tell you my personal experience with throttle spacers.

I ride mine on track, and the throttle does feel smooth with the spacers in.

ALTHOUGH it does .... up the quickshifter for me. It wont downshift always unless i forcefully close the throttle (which is not how it is supposed to be)

I have still stuck to using the throttle spacers since I cant really find any information around that they cause problems.

Lately though I have found other people claiming the throttle spacers causes issue. I will no remove mine, or either grind them down slightly.

I have the "CORRECT" ones that cost like 70$ aswell bought through reputable shop.
