An N/A with a BOV?
OK.
On a dyno, they ram air. Standard procedure. If they don't, unstrap your bike and leave.
If they don't do it:
a) the bike will perform badly; but more importantly
b) it will simply overheat
I have a 1199 Tricolore. It has the termi slip on mufflers but not the full system. Does anyone have the dyno numbers for adding the full termi exhaust with 70mm tubes to the slip on mufflers? Is it worth the price of adding the race exhasut at @ $1,800 or is the perfomance improvement negligible?
You may want to watch this thread Panigale remapping ecu - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum .
The ECU tables have been cracked and tuners are starting to go at them this week. Direct re-mapping of the ECU gives finer fueling control than the PCV which remaps by fooling the sensors. My tuner goes to work on my bike next week.
One interesting aside is the speed sensor needs to be pulled to properly dyno the 1199. The fuel map richens with speed, to compensate for the additional air from the ram air intake. Of course on a dyno, there effectively isn't any ram air, so the engine runs rich.
I'm very very sceptical of the figures Ducati have produced. My old R1 would hit 180 plus on the mountain mile, with more weight and less power. Couldn't get the Panigale past 175, it struggled to match the 4's in a straight line.
Aerodynamics might play a part but for me the bike doesn't have anywhere near the power claimed. A friend recently took his to the Autobahn along with an 2010 R1, the Yamaha pulverised it. It's the one area of the bike I'm disappointed with.
You are correct about the 195 hp hype which is dissappointing but pretty much expected.
