E-Lock Warning

On my 2013 base 1199 race bike, I got an E-Lock warning on the dash during a race. It flashed intermittently and did not seem to affect the operation of the bike. The warning only seems to flash while running the bike hard (full throttle, mid to high rpms). As it seems to happen mostly at very high speeds, not a lot of time to stare at the dash.

But it seems to impact the shift light indicator (seems to stop working), causes both the check engine and low fuel to flash along with the E-Lock warning flag. It does not appear when starting the bike or at low rpms.

I checked the battery connections and they are secure.

The bike came to me with only one black key, so that is my only option for starting/running the bike.

Any thoughts on further diagnosis and/or ways to permanently turn it off?

I no longer have a local dealer, so want to run down as many leads as I can before hauling it to one.

thx for any thoughts you might have ...

HOLA HAY ALGUNAS VECES QUE SI LA BATERIA NO ESTA 99% TE HACE COSAS RARAS LA MOTO ,YO REVISARIA LA BATERIA TAMBIEN

So, i was out in the shop preparing the bike for this weekend's racing at Mid Ohio (AMA Vintage Days).

Had the fairings off and was giving everything a close inspection. Found one of the heat shield tabs on the exhaust fractured so added some stainless steel clamps to get me though the weekend.

Also just happen to turn the ignition switch on, and nothing happened. No lights, no fuel pump. Na-da. Huh. Not exactly confidence inspiring for the weekend.

I removed the battery hold down clamp to recheck the battery terminals. All seemed good. Except that when I move the battery a small amount, the power flicked on and off. At first I focused in on the battery, the terminals, the cables, etc. No joy.

Then, while laying on the ground looking up into the wiring, I again moved the battery to see what might be evident. I then noticed a very small amount of movement down by the lower battery bracket. (the ground connection for the battery) Put an 8 mm socket on it (see screw with yellow marking on it) and it wasn't loose, but it wasnt tight either. Gave it a good snugging.

As best I can tell the intermittent I was just seeing a few moments before was gone. And kind of makes sense given what I had been seeing on the track. It was the high speed bumps that seemed to cause the dash to light up with the e-lock messages.

Hopefully this was it.

I'll find out and report back after the races.

The dealer may be able to disable the anti-theft. Its an option I can see in the V4. I'd guess it also exists in the xx99 bikes. I'd call and ask before you made the trip.

Follow up.

While at the Mid Ohio VMD races, the issue re-surfaced and even got worse with the bike refusing to start. I decided to try replacing the battery to eliminate it as a possible contributor to the issue. While replacing the battery, I decided to remove the battery holder. This allowed me to find that the battery ground cable lug had fractured and was leading to an intermittent ground connection under the bolt which holds it in place. Went through the paddock looking for lugs, never really finding one big enough, but was able to rig it up to work for the weekend.

As soon as the ground issue was resolved, the E-Lock messages went away and the bike ran flawlessly.

BTW, I was advised that a Ducati service tech that the anti-theft cant be disabled on this bike (short of using different ECU). Not sure if the OEM box can be reflashed. At this point will leave well enough alone.

I too had a issue similar to this - the e-lock wire block was not fully pressed together
Hope it helps yours
