i think the concern with some is that it seems like the "knee down" is a holy grail to many riders. Not necessarily why, but it is. . . You see people at track days or schools and the only thing that they are concerned with is trying to get a knee down. . . It occupies all of their time regardless of what they are supposed to be working on. .
The only issue I see is that if somebody becomes pre-occupied with getting their elbows down, its a lot closer to the edge in terms of low siding a bike when some less than capable riders try and push for that last bit hanging off, lounging, adding lean, whatever all in the interest of getting a elbow down. . .
