they been talking about flopsis age since 32. now danny is 32 so is dovi and a few others yet you hear nothing about their age. age isnt a huge factor in motorsports anyway.

to be pulling 3rd place finishes at 38 is an accomplishment in my book. id have to stop and put some ben gay on for aches and pains :D

Can't say that I was ever a huge fan of Lorenzo. But I have tremendous respect for what he has accomplished on a motorcycle. I think what gets lost among us all as fans is that this sport is first and foremost a business. The results are secondary to turning a profit. I have enjoyed Rossi's career tremendously, but at this point his value is more towards the profit than results side of things. Unfortunately for Lorenzo, he's got neither results or profitability to hang his hat on at the moment, so he's likely going to have to take a .... deal in the hopes he can land on his feet somewhere else and regain his form. Happens in every sport, star gets dealt to the wrong team and simply never regains their magic. I would like to see Lorenzo bounce back for the health of the series in general. Not sure he is a fit for any of the currently desirable teams at the moment though.

A fixed satellite Yamaha could be very interesting!

A couple of problems there.
1 Yamaha isn't running a satellite team
2 they never get a factory spec bike. Hell they DEtuned zarco bike to try to keep him from beating the factory

There is one factory he can land and that's Aprilia. Petrux has a deal there on paper already if he does t get the factory ride at Ducati. I think he is over rated by a lot. Jack seems fine with a gp19 spec bike and not being at the factory. If I were lorenzo I would do as the article and NW say. Take a low contract bet on yourself all performance based and roll the dice.
I must say I always thought dovi was a fluke last year. MM won by over 30 points and had 3 DNF. THAT'S 75 POINTS more he could have had. Once lorenzo left Yamaha that left nobody except maverick to challenge for the title. Backward development and taking his tires away took him out

2020. MM GIVE ME NINE

I don't really consider the Aprilia a desirable seat though. Sure, he could take it. But then what? He's definitely in a tough spot. I agree with you about taking a low contract with performance incentives.

Marc VDS was negotiating with Suzuki with the intent of running a satellite team but the debacle with his team manager seems to have put that agreement to an end.
I wonder if Marc VDS switches to Yamaha, with Morbidelli on a 2018 M1 and Lorenzo on a 2019 M1.
Lin Jarvis said in an interview a while ago (after it was announced that Tech3 would switch to KTM but before it was public that Zarco signed with them too) that if they could find a satellite team competitive enough and with deep pockets, they would be open to provide a 2019 bike.

Morbidelli is a VR46 Academy rider if that counts for something to Yamaha (they had an interest in Bagnaia for the same reason) since Rossi's influence inside the team is still huge.
And with Lorenzo on a satellite team this would also be a way of Yamaha saving face after letting both Tech3 and Zarco go.

If Rossi and Vinales would be too happy with having Lorenzo on an equal machine, that would be another question.
At this point, I don't see many options left for Lorenzo.
I think the Aprilia seat will go to Petrucci if he doesn't get the factory Ducati (I think he will) or to Iannone.
Yeah, I know Iannone doesn't bring the same "cache" as Lorenzo but it also requires a lot less "cash", plus he is Italian.

As some have said here, I think Lorenzo should bet on himself, lower his salary, eat the humble pie and sign a contract based on his results.

You must have amazing access to what must be highly classified Yamaha / Tech Three data to state that.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
