I'm not sure this is the same thing as the stalling issue, since it doesn't happen at idle. It's also temporally associated with having my bike tuned, ECU remap for race mode, but sport mode left stock. Never had an issue beforehand.

I was riding home afterwards, got on the freeway and after about 15 minutes, going 70mph or so the engine just cuts off. Engine error light comes on. I coast to the side of the road, cycle the fuel pump a few times and nothing. Engine error light still on. I turn it off, then on again after about 10 minutes, engine error light is gone starts up and runs fine to get me home. Called Ducati dealer and they said they didn't think it was related to the tune.

Went out today just to see and after about 15minutes, same thing happens. This time at about 40mph, engine just cut out, engine error light comes up. Waited 15-20 minutes, error light off and it started. I'm going to have them come and pick it up to look at it, but I wonder if this is related to the TPS and A/F issue that a few people had with the up map? It's just strange that it clears after it's been off for awhile.

.

Something electrical too close to a heat source?

have a look if it happens during warm up or after a while.

You know that's not a bad thought, but the tank's never been off. Also, would that throw and engine error code? They did remove the fairings to dyno it.

Doesn't matter if the tank has been off, but it seems to be a known problem that the hose under there is getting pinched. Don't think it throws codes either.

It's after warm up each time 20-30 minutes into the ride. 150-170F iirc, but not running hot.

pm iamlance

he was mentioning his bike was having issues about surging and doing weird things but he said it wasn't until the bike warmed up and he was riding it for a while. Sounds kind of like his issues which he is not happy about.

When you say that the engine "shuts off", do you mean it stalls completely, or that there's simply no response from the throttle?

Last year, I would get the warning light and then the throttle connection would cut off. The engine was still "on", but no response from any throttle input.

I'm wondering if you're having the same issue.

... it stalls completely...

It dies. Electronics work. Seems like it's a fuel issue, like mb bad fuel pump, pinched/clogged line. Or maybe (dare I say) heat related since it starts after 15-20 minutes and the error code is cleared. But, can't explain the engine error code. I was going to take the tank off and see, but since it's under warranty will have the dealer take a look at it.

Because there was so much interest in this thread, I thought I'd post a follow up:rolleyes:

The tech was able to reproduce my problem, so at least they don't think I'm FOS. The error codes that were thrown were a can-bus error, which they said is a very general code. So, they basically had to check every line and connector for the problem. They found moisture in one of the connectors to the BBS under the seat. Dried it out and put some sort of grease around it and haven't been able to reproduce the engine cutting out again. Never washed the bike or ridden in heavy rain, so not sure how it could be avoided. I'll get it back tomorrow, but frankly my confidence is a little shaken to take any long trips yet.
