Engine dies when riding....

G'day guys,

The engine in my 1199 has cut out mid ride on me 3 times in the last two rides!!

I've been in the higher gears doing about 100-140km/h when it shuts down. The mode numbers dash out, check engine light comes on and the engine warning is displayed on the dash. At a stop, back in neutral it will crank but won't fire. Turn the key off for a couple of minutes and back on again, the mode numbers display and she fires right up without any issues.

Todays ride it first did it after 39kms and the second time at 130kms.

It's still under warranty and I'm going to ring a dealer tomorrow but I'm interested in why...

Anyone had this happen or have any clues as to why?

Is there a diagnostic mode/error codes we can access via the dash?

Cheers,

Join the crowd. Evidently from the threads in this forum it is a quickly expanding one. Mine has done the same thing as yours is doing since day one, Many others hare having similar unexplainable issues/electrical glitches..

Don't think for a minute that the Ducati mechanics at the dealership don't know about the problem. The ones at my dealership played like they had never had those issues but many of their customers have come in with similar issues. The dealer has been great trying to rectify the problem but they cannot get much help from Ducati factory ( and can only replace things when there is a code thrown (which is not happening) or when the factory rep gives them permission... They get a lot of bikes in ( Not just the Panagale but also the Street fighter and Multistrada) with stalling issues or other electronic glitches.... usually no codes are thrown etc. The Ducati factory also knows about it but evidently they cannot or are unwilling to fix the problem... They have never been able to fix mine
This has been very high maintenance/ aggravating purchase I will most likely sell or trade mine off before the warranty expires.
I hope you have better luck..

Speedy
