Engine Ice

Hey man I live in Miami and I’m changing from OEM to Supercool with WW. Gunna test running temps with these high ambient temperatures and see how it runs. If it doesn’t keep it below 210 I’m going to try 25/75. Idc about peak power, I care about not roasting my nuts in the south Florida heat. Gotta work this out before summer

Keep me posted when you test it. I got the heat shield kit installed with some extra closed-cell Insulation foam pads under my seat and tank
and that made a huge difference on my legs and butt. For me is more for the longevity of the bike that anything else. Mind you, my bike is dyno tuned with the fan running at lower temps than stock and still see 4 bars when in traffic. Last summer was brutal here.

Oh, and fueling helps cool the engine as well. My mv agusta F3 800 ran cooler the harder I rode. Same thing with my Audi S4 stage 3. Running rich also gave turbos more to spool off of.

The tradeoff though is the heat goes to the exhaust system. Had to deactivate EGT (exhaust gas temp) sensors.

Be carefully with that tune. Lean is mean.

I ride in 90-100F every once in a while in the summer here and never see 4 bars. Once the bike hits 3 bars, the fan kicks in shortly after. Maybe it’s a drier heat? Also have a 22

I've ridden a few bikes in Miami. The heat comes from the exhaust system while at low speeds. The scrambler had the pipe on the side right under your inner thigh. I would basically have my left leg on the ground while hovering my right leg way from the bike at lights. The panigale also horrible and no escape from heat of pipes. Mv agusta brutale 800 RR was the only one that was ok. Guess why? Exhaust is traditional routing at the bottom of bike.

No coolant or radiator will help with comfort at low speeds in Miami if your pipes are near any part of your body.

If you want to protect the engine go ahead but it'll be barely noticeable.

If you are actually on track or constantly moving then radiator has biggest impact on overheating. And in those conditions you aren't feeling exhaust heat anyway if you are wearing the right gear.

What I’ve noticed on this bike is as soon as it hits 200+ the exhaust heat around your nuts doubles. 210 it triples. I don’t know why but my #1 goal right now is reducing the time it takes to get to 210

That’s the temp the cooling fans normally come on, re the extra heat on you.

This is what I've done. Turn the fans on at 100C (stock is 104C). Polished the outside of the stainless heat shields so they look like the stainless latte machine at poseur perk. Painted the inside of the heat shields with white VHT. Wrapped the rear header with exhaust wrap (2 in wide 2000 degrees wrap), put reflective stick on shielding on the bottom of the seat and tank. Removed the right side head shield and most effective of all raised the seat about 8 mm's to create an airgap between the seat and tank. Changed to 30% glycol, distilled water and water wetter. And now a 13 psi radiator cap.

Give me a typical heat profile in summer stop and go traffic. Here, In summer weather, with stock gear, the bike hovers between 215-220F until you can get steady airflow. That’s with 60/40

Mine hits 4 bars only in heavy traffic which is common here in Miami. Never during high speed, when not in traffic only 2 bars is the norm and on 93+ degree days maybe 3 bars.

It doesn't run much cooler. My fans turn on at 212 F. You're missing the point. I'm cooler, much less heat is being transferred to me. The air flow between the seat and tank keeps the seat cooler. The wrapped header keeps my right leg cooler.

Curious how you raised the seat. Guess I could add spacers to the weight points
