Hey all. This is my first Ducati. 2021 V4S. Loving it so far. I'm just wondering, are these things supposed to sound really clacky at idle? Never had experience with demo valves and just wondering if this was normal. All my other sport bikes sounds a bit like this but I'd say this is about 50% more "clacky". Thx

Yeah the cylinder shutdown is very noticable but I mean just the noise in general. If the clacking is normal for these v4's then all good.......I hope. My first time with a cartridge type oil filter. I sure saw a LOT of metal shavings on my oil change. I'm assuming this is normal to since there is no casing like a traditional type oil filter to contain the filings

What you're hearing could be a dose of injector noise too.

These engines break in dirty--my oil looked like it had sparkles added. You definitely don't want to extend the 1st oil change.

Lol yeah I hear ya on that. Many many sparkles. I called my oil 3 times by the time I got 1200km. Dyno oil. Cheap. But now I'm using amsoil

It makes me curious if the factory fill is a break-in oil with no friction modifiers. The race car engine guys do this.

'Cause after the first change my clutch seemed to engage better with less shudder too.

Yeah but it seems like Ducati didn't want us knowing anything on this bike. I can believe they never even had a "how to change oil" in the owners manual. I've owned a lot of bikes and never seen this being omitted

I know. The manual sounds like it doesn't even want us cleaning and lubing the chain. :)

I suppose the "toolkit" was the first indication they didn't want you working on this thing.

Haha yeah no doubt. Most of us are pregnant even more qualified than some of the "mechanics" at our dealer

My first Ducati here as well. Its a Streetfighter V4 and when hot at idle it’s very clacky. Clutch basket, timing chain slap or the Desmo valves? I have been wondering the same thing. Is this normal???

Every Ducati I've ever owned had the "clack". That is just how they sound...if you really want to hear weird Ducati sound, swap to dry clutch. The clack just gives them more character.
