this is an Marelli equipped R tested by SBK rider SMRZ ... the dash shows 110°C !
heat dissipation becomes more and more of an issue on racebikes as it loses % of power..

problem areas are the frame and airbox that heats up to 70°C and heats up the air. Same for the fuel in the tank... oil runs at 140°C

at SPA a SSTK equipped but fully tuned base engine ran within 0;5 a second of the all time lap record and led a SBK race for 5 laps... then it fell back ... it is sustpected that ad the bike heated up fully, it lost a bucket of HP ...

Update, 100F ambient today and my bike hit 230F stuck in traffic and no breeze. Highest I've ever seen on my bike. Bike totally stable, however even in this crazy hot weather, just some smell of new bike in the air due to everything heating up, hehe.

100F in Socal... hit 223 in traffic with no breeze. Yeah, I know what you mean about that 'new bike smell'. :D

Guys...thank god....I have been looking for this thread...
My R runs hot too...was ok on the street. But I have converted to track use only. Removed the fan and duct etc. have sharkskinz bodywork.
It runs around 215+/- on the track and can go higher when the weather is hot or after a long session. I have been agonizing whether my bike has a specific problem. Tried different coolant combinations, a little improvement with running a 90/10 distiller water to coolant ratio. Tried Mocool but no improvement. Definitely going for a bigger radiator(s). Probably fabricate a set here or MAC radiators kit...
Thinking of removing the radiator protectors as they keep picking up rubber debris which accumulates between the screen and radiator surface...
