Excess chain lube

Factory spec calls for 35/36 F/R with no passenger, 39 R with passenger.

About the chain lube… my dealer forgot to install the lower chain guard just above the exhaust when they fitted my Akra slip on. I didn’t notice when I picked up the bike as it was the first time I got to properly see it.

Result… I thought the bike was on fire a few traffic lights down the road. Chain lube was being flung directly onto the can and was smokin’ plumes.

Can you post some pics with chain guard please …maybe I don’t have that

Forgot? I didn't think there was a way to install the chain guard with the Arka. The Termi has an additional bracket, but I don't think such a thing exists for the Akra.

Oh I’m talking about the homologated slip on. The Akra bread box.

This was right after…

I’ll post pics of it installed later today.

With the Termi slip-on there's a bracket which connects the cans to the support which is to the rear of the chain guard. Some YouTube personalities  omit that bracket for the sake of looking cool but, I think it's there for a reason.

Ok thanks …..I don’t have that on the bike .I’m not sure they use that on Akra full/slip on systems

No problem. In all honesty… just don’t trust the dealership or whatever shop does your work. Check everything or do the work yourself.

The dealership in the country I live is just plain incompetent. I’ve had numerous issues with them and my bike hasn’t even completed 1k miles yet.

I’ve now made it a mission to take care of everything, from service to all out maintenance. I’ve even invested in my own Texa diagnostic tool and I’m looking forward to doing my own desmo service.

P.S. use Motorex chain lube, it’s the ....!

Are people overlubing? The o-ring chains don't need much lube.
You're just trying to keep it from rusting basically.

Every 500-600mi I clean the chain with a rag soaked in kero, oil and wipe it down with 75-90 gear oil. What remains just lightly coats the rollers and links.
