Explanation Needed: Why would going from 14 to 15 teeth on the front fix my autoblipper?

So I bought my 2015 1299S used back in 2017. It had 1700 miles on it and was bone stock except for an NRC fender eliminator... so I thought. Since day one of ownership the autoblipper was never really smooth and sometimes it wouldn't work one the first attempt, especially when going from 6th to 5th at higher speeds. My first move was I installed a Translogic shifter because I've heard good things about them. I want to say it helped a little bit, but the issue was often enough where I disabled the autoblipper at the track because it simply wasn't reliable enough.

Today I did a 520 conversion and ordered the stock gearing (15/39), assuming the bike had stock gearing from the previous owner still. I knew the rear was at least. Anyway, when changing the front I noticed it was an aftermarket sprocket and 14 teeth. Hmmm. It was such a nice day out I just wanted to go riding so I buttoned 'er up with the 15 tooth sprocket and the first thing I notice is that my autoblipper is acting pretty smooth, every time, even from 6th to 5th. Odd. I have absolutely no idea how this change would fix the issue I was having. Do any of you have an idea why?

in theory, this is no surprise. if i change the gearing with a marelli ecu, i have to edit this on the computer and reflash the ecu. this one edit causes a lot of changes (seen in the diff of the 2 binary files).
in practice, we had changed to 14 without negative experience on a stock 1299s.
so i would check the mechanical side at first. (90°angles, smooth sensor and linkage, shift force).

edit. i don't believe that and it can't be the solution, but maybe playing with the engine brake is worth a try.

I didn’t do much prior to changing the sprockets out in terms of trying to fix the issue, aside from the Translogic shifter. I did swap rear sets but that was for other reasons. I didn’t think the autoblipper was tied to anything gearing-wise, but whatever I did fixed my issue and I’ll take it!
