Any one have some experience with the difference between the 1299 and the 1299FE engine .
From experience, how many track km/miles are we to expect from a 1299 before really needing a rebuild ?

Good question, I have posed this to the dealership. I am not putting a ton of miles on mine on the track, nor on the road. I have been told the service intervals are about 1/2 of what you would on the normal 1299 engine. So, road riding says 15k, 7.5 for the FE engine. As far as track abuse, I would say you are fine for 4-5k, depending how much abuse you are feeding her.

From everything I have seen the service intervals are the same for the regular 1299. If you are only using it for track servixe I'm sure someone here still had the suggested service interval spread sheet. With my I changed the oil every 2500-3000 miles and that was it. I had 7k miles on my FE with zero issues.

Directly copied from Ducati Website, 7,500 for street use. Personally I always change my oil after 3-4 track days. I would suggest doing the Desmo much earlier than 7,500 miles on the track. As I stated above, I would do mine at the 4-5k mark. I am not a top expert bouncing it of the rev limiter the entire time.

I've been offered a new FE engine to put in my track only bike from a race team here in Aust. They are guys I know quite well , but the mechanic insists on rebuilding ( new pistons bearings etc every 5000 track km . My 1299 has 8000km track kms, .... thats about 1800 laps ! I change oil and filters every 2-3 track days. So I'm guessing an FE motor may need a bit more frequent attention?

I would say it does need more maintenance, higher cam profiles, titanium connecting rods, exhaust valves and intake valves if I remember correctly. I wouldn't imagine bearings on the bottom would need to be replaced. IDK, it is a highly strung engine, but every 5k seems pretty hardcore. Do it now and check to see what kind of shape its in, check tolerances. The mechanic, as in the race team mechanic where the engine is coming from? IF so, I would listen to him, he has more know than I ever will. Nothing wrong with being on the safe side. IF everything is fine, push it another 20% and then check it again.

In Germany Ducati recommends oil service after 12.000 km and Desmo service after 24.000 km, independently of road or track use.

мне кажется у fe степень сжатия больше за счет общего обьема 1285 у базы обьем 1299 не так ли??

1299 FE Is basically a 1299R. Different crank, rods, cams, pistons than the standard 1299 and probably shares similar specs to the 1299SL motor

Not sure if the FE shares the single compression ring piston as the SL but you don’t want that for a low rpm street bike. You need some piston speed with that single
