After a ton of trackdays on the Pani, keeping it shinny side up came to an end! Just ran out of tyre after finding the limits on how much lean these bikes have. The thing that pissed me off about the whole ordeal is I managed to save the front with my knee then the rear decided to fold.

Only damage was brake lever,Ducabike lever guard, and the engine case & fork bung. The bike itself didnt have a scratch on it!!!

Ugh.... Sorry to hear..... great news damage was very light though.........

Sorry to hear about it. Watched your YouTube clip. There are thoughts that have and thought that will, so don't feel too badly. Not to critisize, but your lines didn't help you.

It was my first time on this track so lines were all over the place!

It was in Race mode, just dash in road and not track.

Sorry to hear that you laid yor bike down but nice slide. It seems your speed was around 40 and decreasing around the turn. You should have rolled on the throttle around the turn and increase speed to prevent the front and rear from folding or slipping out. At extreme lean angles your bike decreases speed rapidly and you lose traction so you need a lot more throttle than you think.

That sucks man. I'm glad you're ok and the bike wasn't too bad off.

Beautiful track though. And that carbon fiber front stay is sweet!

Like scrapper said, decreasing speed round the corner from closed throttle adds stress to the front tyre.
From your line, it looks like you came into the corner slightly too hot?
Glad the damage is minimal and the speed was low. I dropped mine and the damage was he same, except the footpeg ($99 ebay) was bent but the engine case was not touched (non-folding footpeg).

Man- we all learn. I was scared as all hell taking my 1199 on the track, especially it being my first time ever taking a motorcycle on the track. Luckily I pulled through just fine. On a happy note- with that low speed I'm glad to see only damage was minimal.

On a side note- for those of us who track this bike regularly I would think bringing along an extra set of levers, and an extra clutch cover would be very wise. Do you all agree?

Hope the bikes only out of commission a few days and you're back on the track asap!

ride safe,
dylan

That carbon stay was my next comment.

PUMPDAD-
Where did you get it and what did it run you??

I've had my bike on the track at least 15 times since Oct of 13. The first thing I purchased other than the Bitubo was the GP case covers. The best investment for the Pqnigale because it looks like a very high risk impact zone. Get those and some track plastics and you should be good.

No.

Case cover is good. But you really need extra fr brake lever, clutch lever, clipons, rearsets (or at least extra footpegs, shift lever, rear brake lever).
Those are the things you'll be constantly replacing at the track.

Quackquack
I had my boy paint the cover the same magnesium color of the bike. You can't tell they are on the bike.

Charlie, thanks for the info

You walked away. That's all that matters. It looked like a slower corner on the track. Kewl vid up until the crash. That looks like a fun track.

Whats crazy is I have raced donnington in video games so much that I feel like it could ride that track. LOL

The video looks just like the game. Crazy.

I wish I was fortunate enough to run around that track, good for you and that you didn't get seriously hurt. ;)
From what I can see it looks like you ran wide at the corner you dropped it and thanks for posting.

Welcome to the club! Laid down my '12 in similar fashion with minimal damage, broken shifter, scraped bar end and a slight scuff on the lower fairing. All that with the bike sliding 75 feet down the track.

There are the ones who crashed and the ones who will, think you just changed categories, lol.
