Riding position is very good with plenty of room for taller riders, better than the RSV4, you feel a little more in the bike. Leg room is good. Wider bars feel a little strange and will need getting used to or changing. Seat is very very hard, possibly needs a comfort seat for long road rides, sore arse!!
Gear box and quick shifter are faultless. Engine is very fast revving and responsive, i had it in Race mode. 2nd gear pull on the bars and she's on the back wheel, dip the clutch in 3rd and up she comes. Feels well balanced. Front end felt planted although i did not get any real chance to push in any corners, to much traffic. Feels very flick able, even more so than the V4, feels lighter. Brakes are great, faultless with lots of feel. Vibration is a little more than the V4 but that is to be expected from a twin. She feels very Ducati, very involving and fun to ride. I look forward to some good rides to get a proper feel for what she can do!
Great bike. Should be picking mine up next week, cant wait

wish my dealer had the confidence to tell me i,d get it next week, he told me anything up too 3 months last night! ...still got my test ride booked for today so at least i can get a feel for it.

Forgot to mention, yes the side stand is a pain in the ...! Small price to pay for owning such a great bike.

Man oh man... jealous! Can't wait to demo one at my local dealer (big 1199 event here in Tampa, FL Apr 28th). This bike can't come soon enough.

This is something I don't understand about Italian bikes....they all seem to have terrible side stands.

At least the stand doesn't go through the side fairing anymore.

What a .... idea that was!

i wonder if theres anything we can do to solve that problem lol.. like an additional weld to make kicking down the stands easier.

This is my first duc, What is the deal with the side stand? Just hard the access?

Hey Rich--care to compare the 1199 to the RSV4? (I'm guessing you've ridden both)

Yup that's true - Ducati's spring loaded retractables where an accident waiting to happen.
