Just saying hi. I am a first time ducati owner, recently upgraded from a 2011 zx10r.
Some guy decided it was a good idea to pull out infront of me on my zx, totaling it about a month ago.

I was a little sore, but nothing serious. My shoei x12 helmet saved me from any serious injuries.

Anyways, my new bike:

I do have one questions:
Does anyone else have trouble gripping the tank? I ride on the balls of my feet, and that puts my thighs and knees around subframe, not around the tank.

Yes I do, it takes awhile to get out of the habit, it probably wouldn't feel so bad with leathers on, I changed the seat on mine after the first ride, between sliding forward on the tank, and gripping the subframe mounts with my knees on the tight bumpy road I like to ride, I was LESS than impressed.
Once I got onto Highway 36 out of Platina, I was in love again.

That is some nice riding up there.

Where you located?

Just outside of Anderson, south of Redding, it's like Stunt Road, and Old Mulholland Highway 1975 but better around here. Cops and traffic are never a problem. Just wildlife, if your ever up this way PM me and we can go for a ride. Steve

Did changing the seat help? I was thinking with the slightly higher seat, maybe I would not be gripping the subframe mounts.

Your knees will still grip the fairing however you feel 100% more stability with the race seat.

I just ordered the race seat, as well as some techspec tank grips. Should make for a big upgrade over stock.

the seat was a huge improvement, and dialing in the rear shock helped too.

SBC580, welcome to the family of Ducati and the love of a great Italian ride. Sorry about your zx10r and glad your ok. Enjoy your new ride and prep her up like you want. CARBON, fame sliders for both axles, T-rex for the frame which fits right in no cutting of your fairings, led blinkers if you want to get rid of the mirrors and put them on your handle bars, and all other stuff to dress her up. Check out Bellissimoto.com for all the nice add ons.
So, great choice on bikes and welcome. :)

Since your up in Austin, you should meet up with us next month at the San Antonio Bike Show on the 15th of March bro, or even hit me up for a ride in the Hill Country.

Congrats on your new bike. The seat helped tons, as it is both taller and less slippery. Footpegs, too...the OE ones are slippery as hell!
