please tell me that there is a fix for these two bolts that Lay directly on on the side of the motorcycle that gets so hot it leaves two marks on my leg/knee.

Lol like our forefathers with Garand thumb, you now have Panigale leg. Be proud! Looking for a solution as well since I'm not a big fan of blisters.

What two bolts?

If you are writing about the ones for the camshaft cover which hold the heatshield on, ditch the ugly as f*ck heat shield and you can use shorter bolts.

You're not riding in shorts are you? Faux paux if you are haha. Still gets hots in jeans and leathers so I feel ya.

there is a thread about a homemade spacer or cap for these. can't recall it right now.

We call them pants. If you're olde school Ducati/BMW/Aprilla, then they're called "Trousers".

I've never noticed my cylinder head getting me. But when I get stuck in traffic with only a G string on, I can't hold onto the tank, it gets too hot. But so did the Honda CBR929 I rode. But with that bike, it was most noticeable when I wore my shorty short Umbro shorts, sandals, and the Spartan bristle brush on my helmet.

I'm in full riding gear.

So what you're telling me is that it's completely normal to get two little blisters on my right knee every time I ride.
Thanks for the help.

I think riding style may have a little to do with it. The only time my knee is close to the rear cylinder like that is in a turn (and then its only one). For everyday riding try and loosen up and bit. Keep the knees relaxed and let them move around (away from) the tank. I have a few miles I have to superslab on my commute. I've gotten use to keeping the knees out and away from the bike. This is not really a result of riding the 1199 but any bike in the summer when its hot as .... and you want to keep air moving around you. Just a thought.

I try to ride by holding on with my knees. I thought that's how I'm supposed to ride.

If it's really a problem for you and you don't want to mount the ducati recall covers over them (I didn't do it because I love seeing as much engine as possible), a solution would be to drill/thread an M2 into the screw heads and mount a piece of plastic over it.

Might also want to check your girlfriend for these "blisters".

I have no idea what you guys do to your bikes to have these problems. :D I'd recommend losing the plastic cover to let some air across the head. And loosen up in traffic, don't hang on tight with your legs, to allow more air flow across the head and rear pipe when it starts heating up.

I don't hardly notice anything, other than a warmer than normal seat in traffic, and a red hot fuel tank if I'm in shorts and my Hello Kitty tank top. On a twisty road it's about the same as any other bike. I hang on hard at higher speeds, but the header and head are way cooler at higher speeds.

Other things I've noticed to reduce heat:
-dyno tune. Is it too lean?
-Termi or Aky exhaust. No CAT = way less heat. But only when you're moving. The Akra has a tiny heat shield.
-sometimes wrapping the rear header.
-open up the fairing
-sub frame covers

Because the OP never really answered the question about which bolts he is referring to, I'm going off of the assumption that its the two bolts on the vertical cylinder, which are dual purpose; they hold on the camshaft cover and hold the shield to the camshaft cover. I'm also going to assume that he has the heat shields mounted on the vertical cylinder...

This ugly as f*ck heat shield:

It doesn't become apparent as to how far these two bolts protrude until you actually take off the shield. Here the view from the engine side:

After you remove said ugly as f*ck covers, you can replace the bolts with normal hex head or allen head bolts. You can see the difference here, not what I replaced them with, just done for photo:

When I ride my knee is no where near this area, but I'm 6'-3". YMMV.

They are hideous, 1 of the first things I literally ripped of the rear Cyl, well actually I used a pair tin snips.

I used a touch more finesse. ;) Did have to buy a Torx tool to loosen the subframe. There are these goofy pins which necessitate that the heat shield be moved upward to take them off of the engine, which you cannot do...without tin snips...with the subframe attached.

yes. Those are the bolts. I even burned my finger on one 5 mins after the bike was shut off.
Do you recommend just taking it off? Or shortening the bolts? Is there an ideal replacement part?

I'm 5'8". My knees lie directly on them. Still saving for my sato rear sets to get my knees up where they should be.
