Fix for these INSANELY hot 2 bolts on the side?

thank you for the pictures tjprattctr
Now I understand your problem. forget what I wrote above.
I thought that the cover would be the same as on the SL (where the screws are hidden behind the cover). So I tought you're riding w/o cover.

In your case it's even easier: Your bolts already have an inner thread, very cool. Why don't you just shape a piece of plastic with two countersinks?

I think I still have the original bolts that came with the bike before I installed the heat shield. I have a bit of extra hardware so I'll sort it out when time permits.

See if you can talk to someone at the dealer and have them pull an old fish of the area to get the bolts pre-heat shield fix.

Obviously Ducati realised that there's a need for a change :)

There is enough holding that cover on that you could remove those two part bolts and replace them with traditional ones, re-install the cover and have the holes exposed.

Of course, I'm thinking for all of the trouble I'd source an 899 cover used.

Might also want to check your girlfriend for these "blisters".

I have no idea what you guys do to your bikes to have these problems. :D I'd recommend losing the plastic cover to let some air across the head. And loosen up in traffic, don't hang on tight with your legs, to allow more air flow across the head and rear pipe when it starts heating up.

I don't hardly notice anything, other than a warmer than normal seat in traffic, and a red hot fuel tank if I'm in shorts and my Hello Kitty tank top. On a twisty road it's about the same as any other bike. I hang on hard at higher speeds, but the header and head are way cooler at higher speeds.

Other things I've noticed to reduce heat:
-dyno tune. Is it too lean?
-Termi or Aky exhaust. No CAT = way less heat. But only when you're moving. The Akra has a tiny heat shield.
-sometimes wrapping the rear header.
-open up the fairing
-sub frame covers

This would prob help me a lot. The stock metal ones is what give me Panigale leg lol

I never put them on, rather have a little heat then cover Ducati's work of art :D

Mine came with them sadly. Easy enough to chuck.

I don't think they help with heat, probably just help some noob from burning his leg if he wears shorts.

In my very limited experience with this bike the heat (and burns) comes from the subframe not those two bolts.

When I'm riding my legs can't get anywhere near touching those bolts and I still "feel the burn", I'm 6 ft 2.

I've put on carbon frame covers which did help a little but the heat is still there.

Yes, the sub frame heats up like grill grates even with pants it burns like hell in traffic. I only notice when engine temps get over 200. If I'm sitting around 180 190 I'm good

For me it's def those two bolts.
And I'm 5'8
