Folding or Non folding

I am looking into rear sets and I wanted an opinion. Traditionally I have liked non folding pegs for added protection in case of a slow speed low side. Particularly with the panigale I am concerned because of no frame sliders.

My question is this: is the benefit of some protection from the fixed peg worth it? Do you think the mounting points (no frame tabs) are at risk for breaking with a fixed peg?

Suggestions?

I've always been a fan of fixed pegs but have never considered the risk of the risk of broken mounting tabs on the Pani?

I used folding pegs on my 1098 at first. Well in a track low side they folded and allowed more of the bike to drag. Grinding through the stator cover and water pump (the water pump is a goner in a 1098 lowside no matter what). I went to fixed pegs and the next time there was less damage. To each his own, but I prefer fixed pegs that act as sliders. The down side is that fixed pegs are sacraficial and need to be replaced after a crash most of the time, so carry spares in your track pack.

Fixed pegs, like crash bungs also have a habit of catching into holes and dents on the road. / track. I have seen many a bike suddenly flip up when something like this is fixed. The landing / flipping over can be quite expensive! On a mates 'blade the landing after flipping at Brands snapped the BST rims off the hubs, front and back!

Each to their own and on previous bikes, I always had crash bungs etc and they certainly helped in my fast off on the track at Almeria a few years ago.

Six of one vs half a dozen of the other really.

Low sided mine in a hairpin at 30mph with stock pegs. Damage only to the clutch lever, bar end and footpeg itself. Very minor scratch on the fairing that was completely removed by polishing.

I'll stick with folding, the rigid tend to make the bike flip.
