Pretty good and funny article about an Irish Superbike racer who weighs around.. get this... 345 lbs.. !!!
I started out around 230 lbs a few months ago and am now down to around 190 lbs and can definitely feel the difference it makes. Weirdly enough, it really helps keeping the front end of the bike down, now my gut doesn't get in the way when I tuck in..
P.S. A "Stone" is 14 lbs.
Phil Crowe: Fat but f**king Fast -
Phil I weigh in around 225 but I am 6'5'' so don't have a gut but I still need the front and rear springs changed out to firmer ones. The stock bike is set up for rider 180 or less and I cannot get the correct sag set front or rear.. Now that I have my bike running well I an going to get the forks springs changed out and go to the K 5 shim stack to readjust the compression for the firmer springs.. Even riding on the street I can feel the front end bottoming out sometimes..
I had to take it easy while pushing it in the corners at the track with the stock springs..
The more experience you have and the faster you ride the more the suspension matters..
There is something magical about a bike that has the suspension dialed in for you and your riding style. MY old 2011 ZX10R track bike and a LOT of money spent on the suspension and it was a great handling bike.. I had full Ohlins and a Kyle Racing Linear rear link and a professional set up of the geometry by an ex AMA suspension tuner and it was awesome..! I wish I had kept it now
