Forum rider hurt in single-bike crash

I'd prefer to know how good his insurance coverage is and if his employer pays for longer terms (mine does).

If nothing is in place I'd be willing to spend a fair amount within my means.

We should know if he has a PayPal we could donate to. I'd prefer to not go over a third party on the internet (except myself). Sending checks if we get to know his address is also an option.

First, could we maybe get a last name or any contact to the sister?

A lot of good vibes sent!

OK. My text over the phone took too long ;)

Having experienced both brain and back trauma, this thread really hits home and reminds me how cruel it is that the things we love sometimes cause the most suffering.

Still waiting for Louise's (Don's sister) response to this thread. Glen has seen it and is very appreciative, just waiting for the main family member/decision maker to chime in here.

Did his sister make contact? Is there a place to help monetarily? What is his condition now?

OK, I finally heard back from Glen, Don's riding buddy that has been in contact with Louise - Don's sister. Didn't get an update on Don's condition, but here is Glen's message to me on FB:

Not sure how to set this up. I'll message Glen again specifically for an update from Louise on Don's condition and also how to simply mail get-well cards as I know many would like to do and I agree with Charlie that this should be the easiest and perhaps most meaningful thing each person concerned on this thread could do to help lift Don's spirit.

With the annual ride at the Gap, it got me wondering how Don was doing. Any update Jeff?

I talked to someone that has seen don recently and said he is moving around, driving himself about. His left arm I believe is heavily damaged. That's about all I know. The person did say that Don believes he was hit from behind by a car.

Great to hear that he is doing better. His original diagnostic sounded scary. Prayers formamfastmandmfull recovery. Is there a PayPal we can fundraiser to?

That's particularly concerning. Does this corroborate with the eye witness claiming to have seen Don high side? I'd imagine if foul play was involved it would have been reported by this point.

I'm only reporting what I was told. This person had no reason to lie and if I were to divulge his name, 99% of the people would acknowledge say the same. I didn't ask any further details of the accident, only asked about Don's condition.

There's no reason to doubt the legitimacy of the claim. What is concerning is the possibility of someone being able to simply drive away after running a rider off of the road. Here's to hoping it is investigated if that is the case.
