Better solution. I lose 20 lbs.. Now there's a weight savings mod!

Yeah.. That'll work...Lol But I must admit I am intrigued and tempted to try the 1199R gearing...15T/41..... Like I am ever going to top out this bike with either stock or this gearing.. and having that extra zip would be really cool I think?????

I did 186mph (speedo) with the 14T just a few weeks ago. I don't recall the exact RPM but remember the red banded lights were showing near redline. I'm thinking the 15T would get maybe 194mph or so assuming there's enough motor to get it there. At 220 lbs, prolly not with me in the saddle!

Isn't 15/41 the factory config?

I think the 1199 is 15/39... the 1199r is 15/41 I think :)

Can you guy's tell me where I can get a 14T sprocket, searched manufacture (afam etc) and non listed for the Pani. Anyone help please.

I learned about these when I went to a two day ducati mechanicals seminar LT Snyder of Desmo Times taught. As I recall he felt the case saver was a good idea especiallly on the 14t as the smaller diameter turn the chain has to negotiate. Have seen pics of a duc case hit with a broken chain and it was pretty horrific.

thanks, not the worst idea.

my dad once told me he had a broken chain flying by his left ear...

flipper, here:

Guys...stock oem gearing on Panigales are 15T front / 39T rear

I plan to got 1 up on the rear with a size 40T...so wont have too many problems on ride height and chain rub onto the plastic chain guide...just to add a little more uuummppph to the acceleration and torque. Not that it needs it, as the new updated map gave it already better torque and improved low down rideability.

Year before last I was riding with a mate (both on 1098's) his chain came back along the road towards me like sidewinding rattlesnake. It made a small hole in a casing on the way out, not too bad I was able to repair it easily enough. Not much room for a chain saver on either 1098 or 1199 and it wouldn't have been any use to my mate in any case, as it holed his casing to the side of the sprocket.
About 25 odd years ago another mate had a chain snap on his Honda 400four, no casing damage, but the chain managed to wrap itself around his pillion's foot. Nasty, she was barefoot except for a pair of beach flip flop's, again it could have been worse, she made full recovery just a couple of gnarly scars.

I had a chain snap on me and wrap around my leg, pulled me off the bike, bike got totaled tore open my leg, I lost a lot of blood. I was lucky to walk away from it. Bike was a Yamaha. The fact that someone tried to yank my helmet off me while I was on the ground really did not help.

Reminds me how dangerous our hobby is.

No problem fitting a 14T front sprocket. We use 14-38/39 on many tracks, as so does the FIM stock 1000 boys.

Here you can check speed and ratio's Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator

PBR and AFAM has the sprockets, sure many others also.

If do not remember wrong there is fitted a protection ("case saver") on the Panigale. (Not completely sure if it was already there or we put it on)

I haven't tried this out yet because the Part is still on order, but I went with an AFAM alloy 14T front and a 42T rear with my full termi system with Evo upmap...

Of course I also did a 520 chain conversion...

When I get my bike back, I will report my results ... if it's still ride-able weather up here in Canada...

It's a motorcycle, not a unicycle. You're expected to keep the front wheel on the ground, lol.
