Fuel overfill

Have about 900 miles on the SFV4 and last two rides I went to fill her up and the tank overfill click never came on and I ended up overfilling and fuel coming out of the tank. Anyone else had this issue before? Is there a certain way i need to align my the fuel nozzle?

Did it come bubbling over the top or did it drop down the overflow tube?

I just shove the filler down in there and let it click off when done then try n fill it to the tippy top without making a mess

That’s not how to fuel a bike

I hold the pump nozzle in right hand and the outer seal evap thing back with my left. And I never fill to the very top - always leave room for expansion

Prolly why I never had starting/stalling issues even when my evac canister was there

Yeah, fuel the tank manually looking at the level and stop before it reaches the top.

Not like a car.

And never fuel the bike while sitting on it, just in case you do spill gas, it would be bad.

Why Do You Need To Get Off Your Bike When Fuelling?

Do you sit on your bike when you fill up at the petrol station? Lots of people do, so it's OK to admit it. In fact, I've done it more times....

Thirding doing it manually and eyeballing how much is in there. Reduces any chance of an overfill/expansion problem.

look at sure-can brand fuel jugs if you want the perfect (max allowable) every time.

Well I don’t do stupid .... like that...

But I do plenty of stupid stuff

Filling my tank to the rim isn’t included tho : )
