here's the vid: PS Bridgestone Tuner GP 2012 - Der Film (Reportage) - sehr khl! Video

from 2:38 ... 6:32

will provide a translation tonight... the journalists are "pretty amazed" (slight understatement...

the white one is a relatively basic setup, has 207 hp, they are very satisfied with the chassis

the black one has a full carbon frame... 171 kg wet.

i will try to get the written test report and put up the translation as well

phil

That was a good watch, even though I couldn't understand most of it other than a few words (Panigale, feedback, etc). Looking forward to the translation! Both the black and the white one look great in those colors.

Nice!!!!!!! can't get enough CF on Bike even on the rear gold ohlins cylinder, love the white one also Beauty!:)
Now thinking should've gotten 1199 S that I could change the color scheme on bike.

THE bike in 2012 is the panigale, it is already famous, we have two bikes here, where you can already see, what's possible with a new model. we have one from "carbon Sigl", with a self-designed CF frame and one from dennis hertrampf, who pushed the bike towards the use in the IDM, to have at least one ducati there (international german mastership). he provided a panigale besides his IDM-rocket.
not only the white paint indicates the difference to a production model, it could already convince in the morning , with 207 hp off the dyno. concerning the chassis, tester Robert Glueck confirmed some positive experience by dennis' team in the IDM, with the new icon of italian art of ingenuity.
tester robert:
"whithout crawling up his butt, i can only say, dennis' chassis are world class in my eyes... here on this panigale, there is nothing revolutionary, no CF or magnesium wheels, it has GFK-fairings, but what we have is a sensational chassis, there is a feedback from the front tire to the rider, what i have only experienced on real race bikes so far. that's why this panigale is so much fun to ride."

a big part of the further development of the panigale came by the IDM rider dario guiseppeti:"this is our first year with the pani in the IDM, we are working step by step, making small progress each time, i hope to be up front again by mid-season."
interviewer: ,,,,
blahblah, not pani-related...
then: the hertrampf panigale showed impressively, what potential this bike has in terhms of performance and suspension, and what's all possible with an innovative bike like this one.

switch to the black one: the focus here is weight reduction. Sigl:"we put 3000 man-hours within 5 weeks into this bike, night and day, to get finished on time for this tuner-grand prix. thanks to all my employees and their motivation we got more accomplished, than we wanted. the largest scale project was the frame, the aluminum CNC-parts worked out pretty well (i think he means the inserts for the CF parts), came in right at the end. the result is "top", 30% lighter, with 25% more stiffness. we are at 171.7 kg with a full tank. ther have been a lot of discussions in advance about this bike, because many componets are built and placed "crash-critical", we tried as good as possible to encounter this, by placing kevlar covers at the neuralgical points, with only one layer of carbon fiber for the optics. these are very safe and light buffers, easy to swap in case of a crash and not too expensive."

then they show the rsv-4...

Thanks for Translation.. Very Impressive..

Thanks Phil! I wish they had mentioned what they did the motor to get 207hp out of it.

i'll ask my friends in GER to scan me a copy of the article as soon as it comes out... we'll know by then.

btw: i got me another set of standard cans today... 250 bucks. let's open em up :D

Phil - they said 207 PS which is just over 204 HP. Not that it matters to me, but AR is really hung up on a few HP :)

hertramp says the fork has a modified cartridge ohlins, also the damper, on the motor they reworked the cylinder heads and the channels, they changed the airbox (??? ...) and finally adjusted that all on the dyno in therms of perfect air/fuel ratio ...

so all a litte bit general...

carbon sigl: they did what they could in 5 weeks, target: as light as possible, stadard is carbon fairings/racing without lights but larger air ducts, behind that is the larger ram air channel in the steering head, ("no chance to get the weight further down with standard components") that's why they have a "self-carrying" rear frame out of 2 pieces. the tank is a one-piece component, special fabrication technique. no gluing, perfectly sealed. below that is the most unique part, the CF frame, 30% lighter and 25% more rigid. it has high strength alloy inserts on the relevant interfaces, machinet after the CF curing, to get 100% accuracy on the bearing seats, suspension points. etc.

concerning the crash safety, as the bike is relatively fragile, like because of the ABS sitting right behind the fairing, or the exposed damper on the left rear side, they tried to encounter this with a lot of kevlar enforced covers, on the ABS and the housing covers. these have kevlar filled bosses. on the damper, the cover goes all up to the pressure container. the swingarm protector is a one piece unit including the rear fender (less splitting of the parts, less screws needed) the result is 171.7 kg wet weight compared to 188 kg wet on the road version.

Muchas gracias amigo. Pretty incredible they (carbon sign) were able to shave that much weight from the lightest bike in the class! That carbon fiber frame looks pretty impressive.
