Panigale V2 Pops and backfires with Arrow Exhaust Slip

Hi All,

I'm hoping you guys can help me out and give me advice. I'm a little confused. This year I bought a 2020 Panigale V2 with an Arrow Exhaust Slip on. After riding it, it seems like the acceleration would bog down for the first 3/4 seconds of every gear and then take off. My TC was on Street performance and Wheelie Control was at 1(low). I didn't think these settings had a lot to do with it doing this. As far as I knew, the bike DID NOT have a tune in it. At this time, the exhaust would backfire letting off mostly only in 1st gear.

I had the bike serviced, the headlight recall fixed, computer updated, and the oil changed. I had the guy ride it and he said, "yea it runs like crap and it needs to be tuned." Based on my friend's recommendation, I bought the BT Moto tuner, read the ECU, got a tune back and the guy at BT Moto said this: "Quick Note when the dash says "Racing Evo" it means it is a Tune from Ducati for the Pipe. Just want to set the expectations that it should be "good" but will be "better" after this tune. Well I installed it and it seemed a little better but it Pops more letting off in every gear and pops even shifting from 2nd to 3rd. My friends also said I can see it spitting fire. After changing the traction control from street performance to track performance, I saw a better performance on acceleration.

My question is, am I missing something here? I don't think the acceleration should be that delayed. Should I stick with the BT Moto tune or go back to the stock? Is it suppose to backfire/pop that much with the arrow exhaust, even with a ducati pipe tune? Thank you in advance I'm new to Ducatis.
 
In the instructions for the tune does it say to disconnect both lambda sensors? I run an UpMap, and it did the same thing till I called them and they said they needed to be unplugged, maybe yours is like mine?

Naaa you have to take the 2 right panels off I did a post on it under here somewhere with pictures of the location. It’s easy, mine ran like .... with them in but after talking to the guys at UpMap they said I need to unplug them to run their tune correctly
 
It's not a Ducati tune per se. A lot of tuners use the Ducati Performance tunes as a base map which they modify as they see fit. Tuners can also add pops and flames as a feature, typically popular with douchey YouTubers. I'd ask them if their tune requires unplugging the O2 sensors, and consider doing it anyway and testing if they say no, and asking them for a modified tune with less pops and nonsense.
 
x2 on the pops and such likely being an intentional function of the tune. (People actually like that crap, believe it or not.) This is especially likely if it was a tune from some tuner, and not Ducati or a factory pipe company.

That said, even on my Hypermtoard with full Termi system and factory Upmap, it pops a lot under deload. I'd rather it not, but that's just how they make it, these days.
 
I have the Arrow system on my 2022 V2 Streetfighter, which I believe is the same engine as yours.
I have the db killers in & I get a bit of popping but nothing major. O2 sensors still connected.
A big plus with BT Moto (Brentune) is they will work with you & send adjusted maps if you're not happy. I had an intermittent flat spot around 5000rpm, which was sorted by their 2nd or 3rd attempt with no extra cost to me.
 
Air Leaks:
Any source of fresh air into the exhaust system can create or worsen the conditions that bring about exhaust backfiring. The most common entry point is the junction of the header pipes and mufflers. Even a small air leak can dramatically increase the intensity or likelihood of exhaust system backfiring.
